Camaro SS vs Stg 2 Sti

My friend's sti caught a white camero with red stripes off a 40 mph roll. The camero got the jump and my friend was in 4th gear (not sure why he didn't downshift). but the sti held the camaro to its rear door panel and proceeded to creep past it over 80mph!

I'm sure that the 16 degree weather really helped out his sti (it felt stronger than usual last night, butt dyno). He is convinced that the APS FMIC is on the top of his list now.

I'm still impressed how fast these camaro's are. I'm not sure if the one we ran was stock or not. we did have 2 people in the car vs 1 in his.

that had to be a real fast camaro. stg 2 stis (around me) run in the 12's. I really can't remember what camaros run stock, 13's maybe? Still great kill. I wish I could take V8's from a roll

The stg 2 sti was trapping 109 at KCIR. It ran a 12.6 in mid 50 degree weather. He was definiately faster than that last night.

    Thumbs up

1997 Anniversary SS's were white with orange stripes. Available with either 305 (LT1) or 330 (Lt4, but very rare) HP. Good for high 13's at low 100's in LT1 trim, low 13's and mid-high 100's in LT4 trim.

Or it could have been an LS1 SS with custom red stripes. Typically good for low to mid 13's and low to high 100's, depending on transmission. They're fun cars to modify, and deliver good bang for the buck, especially when modified. Mostly straightline performance, but they can be made to handle well, too. Last of the GM Musclecars...

Nice job by your friends STi, as it sounds like it's cookin!

That's the car he ran into. I didn't pay attention to the color of the rims but the paint job is excatly the same. I never got to see the back of it so I couldn't tell if it had even a aftermarket exhaust system on or not.

I'm not sure if I like the TransAm or SS more.... man I wish these cars are still in production

He pulled a 12.7 the last time you meet with him up there. He pulled a 12.6 at 109 2 wks ago. That thing pulls like a mofo. My Sti can hang pretty well for a couple of seconds, but his sti doesn't die down like a stock one one and actually gets stronger from a roll

The only race that I've seen him lost on was on the way up to KCIR and he ran into a BPU TT Supra that was heading up there too. He stood neck to neck with him til they hit the triple digits.

Very nice races... A stageII STi must pull real hard, and have some very nice torque!

I personally like the WS6 WAY better than the SS, but both cars have amazing engines in them.

    I feel the same way.

    Uncle = s/c WS6

Good luck with that man, you will need a lot of power to romp a z06 in a wrx.

Nice kill but the LT1 Camaros are not that strong. Good thing it wasnt an LS1 powered Camaro or you would have had some trouble

I'm running basically a stage 2 setup on my STi (intake, tbe, utec - 17 psi)
I beat an LS1 z28 three times from around 50mph - 120 mph. We raced 3 times in a row from about 40mph, 50 mph, and 60mph roll. Each time I slowly walked away from him and ended up with at least 2+ cars at 120mph.

My car is moderately fast. The last time I went to the track (not my best) I ran 12.9 @ 105 mph running against a 25mph crosswind/headwind with warm humid temps. As I mentioned in other post everyone was running really slow. New GTO was only trapping
    101 mph that day.
