Talking I got spanked by a 350 hp WRX !!

I was at Palmdale's LACR raceway (California Sh!t track) the temperature was ~ 95 degrees and had a strong headwind.

After racing for a while, this guy in a burgundy WRX came up to me and asked if I wanted to race him. I said, sure no problem. We lined up. At the tree I cut an awesome reaction time (.567) and I looked over and he just jumped ahead of me by a good car or so. He steadily pulled me through 2nd and It wasnt until the top of 3rd before I started creeping up on him. But by that time it was too late, he spanked me. He ran a 13.5 @ 97-98 mph, I ran a 14.0 @ 101 mph. His 60' time was 1.7 and mine was 2.4!

He also spanked some C5's and Z28's. Most of the N/A cars struggle at this track, mostly its because of the elevation and hot desert air (3000+ ft above sea level)

Oh well, no excuses, a lose is a lose

Good run WRX if your here!

    LACR

I've run a couple of times at LACR and the NA cars do go slower than they normally would. I lost about 1 second of my quarter time last time I was out there. Also, my car needed to be tuned, so it wasn't all elevation but it does make a difference.

Hmmm, sounds like he is stage four, and should have run a better time then 13.5. Actually, the temperature and elevation probably lost him a few tenths...

Is your M coupe stock? That's a pretty quick time or the temperature and being stock. Is that a 6 cylinder?

Shiat! Withose traps (97-98), he shouldn't be going any faster! That 13.5 is tapped out for a WRX at THOSE traps.

1.7 60' is a great launch! I'm still having trouble getting below 1.8 60' even with my current setup...mostly due to wheel spin I guess(aired down to 28psi and slipping at 5.5k).

If we're talking 350 Crank HP, he should be trapping about 105mph. With drivetrain loss around 20% that would be about 280HP @ the wheels.

105 sounds about right. 98 is only 3mph above a stock wrx.

Unless the other guy shut down early, I would say your car has a bit more horsepower because of the mph difference. He just got a perfect launch on you.

I trapped on average of 100-102 @ this Track. Near sea level I normally trap in at 105-106 mph. With a near empty tank of gas I could probably trap in the high 107 mph.

The guy has been running mid 13's all night at this track. Even though his mph wasnt so great, it was normal for cars like him at that altitude. New C5's trap in about 100-102 mph as well.
