    02 wrx vs 01 CL-S?

    hey
my friend just challenged me to a rolling start 20mph race..
he has a 2001 CL-S lowered, headers, CAI, exhaust sys and perhaps pulleys.

i have a turboback, and mbc, samco int. hoses, lowered.

i am thinking i can own him.. but.. i donno much about CL's..
any good? he says hes around 340hp or so.. <shrugs> ..
it'll b a fun race and i'll have it on vid but.. will i walk away too easy or.... will he put up a fight?

With the mods you are listing this CL type S will not have nearly that much power. 3500 lbs. , 260hp, 232 torque ,auto tranny. Those bolt ons listed are probably good for 10hp. Stats for the 270hp TL.

    0-60 mph: 6.3 sec
    0-100 mph: 15.9 sec
    Quarter Mile: 14.8 sec @ 97 mph

Why race from a 20mph roll? Why does the WRX always have to have the handicap? Tell this clown you will go from a STOP to 100. That's a REAL race, not this racing from a roll garbage. He's got 340hp right? He should have no problems taking you from a stop. lol

Thanks! It only took a $2.99 WRX die cast car, a cheapo digi cam, and a dumb idea. If you look even closer at the car in my WRX scoop, another even smaller die cast car is coming out of the hood scoop too! kidding. I have attached the pic. Good luck with your race, post the results.

thats a pretty stupid comment. Acura CL-s is hardly a ricer car, and has a lot more class and refinement that a wrx does.

back to the topic on hand. If he is running comptech header, (those are known for real good gains) and he is a 6speed manual, he will put up a good fight. even the auto is a nicely geared 5speed auto trans with good pull. He is probably good for REALLY low 14's right now, and has some pretty good top end. My guess is that you will get the jump and hold him off pretty well (a car or so) but then he will start to make up ground. and if you dont end the race by 70-80 mph he may pull on you.

    DTR rex:

Chill man, I was just kidding! I never imply that it was a ricer car. But like anything, if you get the wrong guy behind it, it can turn into one regardless of what it is.

Back to the thread. Game on!

The cl's acutally dont have alot of top end surisingly...

You will win because those mods really dont do much for that car. In fact the s/c comptech cl only trapped at 106 or something like that. IT was pretty low. Those cars are big, heavy, and the gearing is not great. It is however a very nice car and if you want sport luxury it puts up a good argument.

He will prolly pull you right away and you will reel him in and pass him...have fun and be safe.

106 is pretty good... Don't the STI only trap around 103?
