    cobb stage 2 vs Boxster

So I just installed the AccessPort last week and flashed to stage2 and is really happy with it. And got a chance to test it on a car that I always wanted to run against. So here is the story, enjoy:

    Cliffnote: WRX > Boxster

complete version: coming home from some shopping with my wife. She really never liked street racing, but does like being in fast cars. So we're getting off the highway and rolling on the off ramp. The ramp merged with a straight section of roadway. I then noticed a Boxster on the side of the road, as I drove pass him, he started to roll out of his stop. I then jokingly told my wife that the driver was putting on his driving gloves (which he was really doing, you know those black, 1/2 fingered gloves with holes in the knuckles). He merged into the middle lane while I'm on the left lane. We slowly came to a stoplight, and I told my wife, "lets see if this guy wants to play?". And was supprise to not hear back, "don't street race!". I then proceed to give a light rev. The driver and his girlfriend/fiancee/wife looks back at me. I then merged behind him because I didn't know if he was going straight or getting onto the highway. He then proceeded to get on the highway with me on his tail. I didn't know if he was on it or what, but I just shifted around 5500, in both 1st and 2nd. Then I can see that he picked up the pace, so I punched it in 3rd. Holy crap did the power come on, hit the limiter around 7300! I was used to 3rd lasting longer before the AccessPort. I then proceeded to reel him in with 4th gear. I had to let off the gas a little to not rear end him. We hit around 100mph and then slowed down due to some traffic. As the highway cleared up, I caught up to him at around 80mph, put it in 3rd and see if he wanted to go again. The guy didn't even want to look over. I gave honked and gave a few stab of the gas, but he wasn't budging. So I proceeded to drive off. The guy waited unit I was about 10 cars ahead and proceeded to do the "fly-by". I thought he changed his mind and wanted to go again, but to my dismay, he did the famous "fly-by" and proceeded to weave thru traffic. What a sore driver. And the wife just loved the race/outcome.

BTW, this was a classic case of a guy going through his mid-life crisis. The guy was around 45 with shoulder lenght hair. The best part, it was semi gray with bald spots. And the girl was younger than him.

Now that's 0wn3d. Nice kill on the Viagra customer! He sounds like the kind of guy that thinks just having a Porsche means the ability to beat any other car. It wasn't a Boxster S, right? Those are really sweet cars, but I'm sure a Cobb Stage 2 would hose one of those also.

It's always nice when the gf/wife gives the nod for a little competition.... although it's not like I listen either way.

I'v driven Boxster's and while they aren't very fast in a straight line, they are very nice cars. They manage airflow very well for a convertible and have a great interior. The shifter has short throws and feels very direct. They are comfortable over potholes and have very good handling. Their engine intake noise is fantastic. IMHO, it is also a very good looking car. A Porsche Boxster owner has nothing to be ashamed about... unless he's deluded himself into thinking that he's driving a GT2.

No race your wagon because nobody around our area knows what it is. They just think it a wagon with some exhaust work.

Yeah, couldn't regist the urge after driving your car.

good run, after 2 hours of fun on a cool day in march. it was pretty safe to say, that My rex versus my friends' dad's Boxter is down right not fair.

on a rolling street start (20mph 1rst gear) all the way up to 80 stage 2 briskly walks on the porsche. granted he stayed put while the rex pushed the needle from 4k-4.5k, but in the upper RPMs no chance. didnt race in triple digits, cuz thats just stupid

From a stop, its just flat ugly. the boxter chirps its tires of the line and pretty much bogs, but the subaru didnt hesitate to spin 4 maybe 3 (open front diff) half way thru 1rst. race was way over by time i grabbed 3rd.

havent ran an S though, sure it be more of a challenge

You put it in 3rd at 80mph? Yikes I feel like my car would blow up if I did that. I dont put it in 3rd past 65

Yeah, 80mph still in 2nd seems a little crazy to me, too. Don't really see how, honestly. Wouldn't you have hit the rev limiter?

If I'm racing and doing 80, it's well into 3rd.

One of the guys at work drives a Boxster S. He walks around like he has a corn cob up his... uh.... exhaust pipe.

I'd love the chance to play with that car someday. Though the guy weighs at least 300 pounds... so maybe to make it fair, I should put a couple bags of concrete or a dead body or something in the back?
