Stock WRX vs. new 911 Turbo

I had him by 8 carlengths by 85mph.

Hah, well here's what really happened. Wasn't really a race, of course, but here goes. I see a 911 Turbo behind me on the highway driving like an ass, just weaving everywhere, tailgating, etc. He pulls up next to me in the center lane - we're both going about 55mph in traffic. So just for fun, I threw it in 4th (great gear! ) and punched it for a few seconds. He punched it a second later and it sounded like a 747 taking off next to me. Needless to say, he pulled about 15 buslengths on me and probably hit 150+mph in that opening in traffic. Car looked/sounded like it had exhaust and maybe other mods.

Not a safe/friendly driver, but holy poo, what a car!

There's a guy in the Scottsdale area with a 911 Turbo with 2 upgraded turbos with all the expensive bolt-ons, lowered, etc. I can only imagine how fast that thing is.

My goal is to own a car like that in 12 years. I'd be happy if it were even stock.

My friend's dad bought a 911 turbo and slapped on some bigger turbos as well. Puts down something insane like 600+ HP. Only thing that gets me is that it's the auto. I'm all for automatics, but not in a 130,000 dollar porsche

You can make these things monsters in no time. A $500 chip will take it up another 80 hp or so because Porsche conservatively tuned the stock 911 TT's.

Mine is at 444 hp stock, and I don't even feel the need to chip it yet. They are very fast.

Sorry to hear that guy was driving like a moron... that is stupid as hell.

Hey, is your friend with the auto and 600 hp go by Sharky?

He may be on the forum I moderate.

I moderate on 2 forums and they have 2 totally different personalities, but both can give you good information.

    www.6speedonline.com

This forum is where all the 911 Turbo / GT2 power heads reside. Some serious cars and owners here. They're very into modifying their cars. You'll find some amazing cars there.
I'm "Scott in H-town" on that forum.
The owners of the site are friends of mine.
You'll learn alot about modifying Turbos and Porsches in general. You'll also see some serious 'toys' on that site.

    The other forum is
    www.funcarsonline.com

The Turbo forum there is quiet, but the 996/997 forum is where everyone resides. There are a lot of traditional Porsche-files there. Not as into modifying, but more into driving, caring for, and tracking their cars. These people know a lot about Porsche, its history, and all their cars.
I'm "Scott in Houston" on that forum.

Another good forum that I do not moderate, but enjoy is www.rennlist.com.

It's more serious than the others, and there are some very smart Porsche people there.

If you were referring to me, Scott, I don't think that is my friend. However, next time I see him, I'll let him know about your forum.

    I was.

Yeah, tell him. It's not common to see that high of a HP automatic.
