it's a good looking car that's about it, not very fast, its about as fast as a specv and for 18.254 that a good deal. I use to own one, i raced a couple of them toe to toe.wrx for life![]()

re: the GS400 - From a dead stop it would be a good race but I think you'd get the jump on him for the first couple of gears and he'd have to try and reel you in - which I don't think he could in time...
From a roll on the freeway - I think we would get slaughtered... Those cars can really push you back in your seat once inertia is taken out of the equation. :-)
I worked as a wrench and eventually a service consultant at a Lexus dealership for 4 1/2 years so I got to "test" a fair number of the cars that made it through there.
Believe it or not, the luxo-barge LS400's of yore could really blitzkrieg down the highway if you felt like it too. Scary stuff when those ~4500 lb. cars are bookin' it on the 4-lane!
Also, if you managed to get him on a twisty road the GS400 would be meat. Those things are cruise missiles - not canyon carvers like the WRX is. That might be a suggestion. :-)

it was a hit and run some idiot put him round when they lost it in the rain then they didn't stop after he spread the car accross the highway![]()
That blows....
They are sweet cars, a gs430 with a turbo would be a nice commuter

I kind of agree with you on the styling. I liked it at first, but the more I see the car, the more I think it's ugly. Gimme my homely pitbull WRX - it looks better to me every time I see it.Originally posted by wrxinthehouse
A guy I was playing basketball last night with had one and I was going to run him, but didn't want to waste the gas.
BTW: I think they look like a saab with down's syndrome.
When it comes to styling, the Germans just do it best. BMW (M-coupe excepted), Audi, certain VW's. All very buttoned-down and elegant cars.
Be interesting to see where Lexus goes with their IS300 (3-series wannabe). The stick was a step in the right direction. How much room does that 6-cyl. have for tweaking ? By all accounts a very nice, smooth engine.
Old, but not slow.
The engine in the IS is a 2JZ-GE, the same engine that is used in the N/A Supra's. It has ton's of potential, and with enough money, that car can be made to move. I know that Toyomoto has put out quite a few IS's running anywhere from 400-600whp. There are also quite a few IS's with turbo's running a modest 300-350whp, with other various turbo kits. With enough money and patience, even the venerable 2JZ-GTE can be dropped in for 700+whp, and I know at least one person has done this.
