I'm gonna buy a 1990 240SX for $2500 and was wondering if this is a good car??? I'm new to drifting also, so don't really care about all out power, just handling so I can drift the car and a few minor engine mods. I have 41K + in my SRT already and need a daily driver so I don't rack any more miles in the SRT. Anyone here can lead me to the right direction? Thanks in advance![]()

Just a start...and I quite like em.
Great for drifting. But if I was going to get a RWD daily driver, I would go for something naturally aspirated - with heaps of torque.
Something family orientated and understated - Like a Viper.
You mean 41K including the cost of the vehicle right?

240sx's are fun cars to drive. rwd just get lsd and you could go drifting haha.
Here are some sites to help you:

240's are nice cars... especially the hatch's. with drifting you will need big power, because part of sliding the car is keeping the tires spining with the power.
just dont buy a 240 because drifting is "in" now.... thats the gheyest thing you can do..... so many people at my highschool were trying to sell their civics and buy 240sx's....
I ask them about an sr20 swap and they look at me blankly, or say...."yeah, i am ordering one as soon as i get my muffler on"....
then you ask them what they have and they say "catback, intake, misc cosmetic stuff and say its a "drift car"....
anyways... have fun with it, but be careful about what used ones you buy. and i personally think you should get a hatch, not a coupe

Its a 240SX SE FastBack. I've been wanting to buy a RWD car like this for awhile, and not just for drifting, but can be a new hobbie for meIt's got 120,000 miles, with new injectors, clutch, tramsmission (about 1 yr old) and shocks. He showed me receipts and all, so I guess its a good deal.

Yeah sounds pretty good. Offer him 1500.![]()
yeah 2500 is a little too high.
I'm fairly knowledgeable on the swapped motors in 240s. I've got 2 friends with SR20s (one S13 with an S13 redtop and one S14 with an S14 blacktop) and another with an Rb25 in an S14. We all have argued between turboing the KA or swapping in the SR20 or RB25.
The KA24 will last you forever but will never make much power. As far as turboing the KA it will just be a ticking time bomb. It is the equivalent of someone buying an older 2.5RS and turboing it when it would be safer in the long run to just swap in a WRX motor. The KA is a great engine for a truck, but it has no top end which most people look for in a sporty car.
PM me if you need any other details.
