    LOST...Mustang knowers...view please

    Fox body mustang. 5.0 ...early 90's ..no body kit.
    Mods: Bigger throttle body (made it whistle )
    Heads
    Cams
    Exhaust....
    Something about a trick flow ????eh...

    Bottom line:

    2x from 40mph roll. He jumped both times but it would not have mattered. Both times I was no closer then his rear door. Every shift the same thing...I pulled him the 2nd time over 130mph but that doesnt count.

    OWNED....What do these mods do for this car ? IT was fast...Please help me understand...

    No force induction on the 5.0? Hmm. don't know. Thats one pretty fast car I guess. I did drive one for about a couple of months that had a chip, gearing (what kind? I dunno) headers, exhaust . Was a 90 something though and that thing was a beast. Couldn't pull out of intersections with quarter throttle. Had to let it idle out and build up momentum then throttle out smoothly. If not....... major wheel spin, I kid you not. Was my bosses car that she used as her daily driver. Would probably eat my STI if I raced her today.

    I had a couple of Stangs in the past with the 5.0 motor. One particular Stang I owned was modded over at JBA with the same type of mods you described. Installing ported and polished aluminum heads really changed the car.

    Trick Flow makes those aluminum heads and also a NOS system for the 5.0. Makes you wonder? I also ran a NOS system on my modded 5.0.

    Just bolting on some heads ain't gonna do what you described. It sounds like they had a decent engine and then a friendly blue bottle to do the rest. Maybe a stroker kit to make it a 347...

    A bolt ons stock 5.0 "engine" can dip into the 12's, my friend has bolt ons + cobra intake manifold and traps around 101...with an aod. Hes shooting for 12.80's when the car comes back on the road...I imagine with a stout heads/cam package you are looking at an easy low 12 second car.

    Yeah but this car dont trap at 101mph...I on my low boost map "should" trap at over 110mph...I beat cars that do so. I dont understand it...He was a friend of a friend but that doesnt mean he was honest about his mods...Eh...I guess I'll never know. But those mods arent good for traps that high ?

    I ruled out blower/turbo simply because on my 310whp map I would've gotten beaten bad. I was right there 1/2 car off the whole time...beats me. eh..losses humble me..so its all good.

    well IMO the 5.0's with blowers probably make right about 350 maybe. I dont think they gain a whole lot from a blower, at least from the sites that i have seen that sell blowers. I could be wrong. Who knows. either way time for more mods?

    350 whp? If not I was going to say...even with just a Novi 1000 350 hp is nothing...

    hEAD WORK AND A gOOD CAM WOULD Make a 5.0 run, the hstock head and cams suck so bad that is why they are slow....
