    Ummm...

Aren't the 2003 Cobra's the fast ones? I went against a 2001 Cobra and it wasn't all that?
    2004 STI White/Gold
    251whp & 263ft/lbs ( Stock ): 0-60 = 4.8 ( Fastest = 4.1 ) & 1/4 = ?
    276whp & 290ft/lbs ( DP ): 0-60 = 4.5 & 1/4 = 12.9 @ 105mph

Yeah the 2001 Cobra's weren't all that I kill em all the time....265hp

The 2003 are fast "390whp" can we say they were a little underated

But the 00Cobra R has 385 so it would be a good race I think the R is a hair faster in the quarter....

    Both sweet ridez though..

    Yo

I've heard they actually dynoed near 390 whp since they are underated. These are just things that I've heard through the grapevine so I really don't know. Why would the 2000 Cobra have more hp than the 2001 Cobra?

there was no 2000 Cobra.....they made a very limited edition Cobra-R version with the 385hp 5.4 DOHC engine.....You will probably never see one on the street though

They were all basically street legal race cars. Most became racecars or collectors items.

The 2003 Cobra is 390 horses, 390 lbs-ft at the crank -listed-. All reviews I've read have said that's conservative becuase the old Cobras (non-force-fed 4.6l DOHCs from 96-02) were listed at 360 horses and couldn't make it (that's why 99 didn't have hardly any cobras put out onto the road, and almost no reviews. The press fleet was nonexistant and run all on the SOHC GTs).

If a stock WRX ran against a GT, it'd be a pretty good race.

If the race at the top of this thread was a stock WRX, then he was racing a Stage 1 Roush V6 mustang (yes, they make 3.8l V6 Roush's with the tips comming out the back end of the rocker pannels).

Hope this clarifies something for you gentlemen

Oh yeah, the Cobra R isnt' exceptionally impressive in numbers for some reason, but still far better than a GT or WRX which seem quite comparable for straight-line acceleration bone-stock. They removed the back seat and did other things to lighten the load, I believe they ditched the way-too-heavy IRS of the standard SVT Cobra, and they did the 5.4 liter (though I don't honestly reclal when it was supercharged and when it was naturally aspirated). In this, I know very little besides what I've said.

ok, so i've seen chuglobal's encounters and they seem strange. wrx are great, but any c5 corvette and most gt stangs will smoke a wrx with his mods, especially while on the highway..and the corvette had to slow down like three times while cornering..hmm..right. maybe he just thinks they are racing him?

    Humm ...

Think as you wish ... because when you "street race" more often you get these little signs to know that they wanna "show off." The only difference is that 90% of the time I'll pull out my "stick" and wave it around if someone wants go to. The reason why I like to run against other fast cars in a "planned" race is because you can see how you fair ... yes it's up to the driver when things are close however the main point that it's still up to the driver ... the Corvette guy has the typical "race" sign and look and "tried" to show off ... well he wasn't successful.
I know a guy who has a C5 w/ typical mods and soon will be getting a GTR R32. We've already chatted and I wanna go aganist both his cars.
