IS300 Encounter

I was coming home tonight and I was hoping to be the first car at as many red lights as possible; I like running through 1st and 2nd gear. Well I'm sitting at a light in the left lane and no one is next to me. However just as the light changed to green I looked over and a IS300 flies past me. I red line first as planned earlier and I'm right behind the IS300 in the left lane; the right lane in which the IS300 is in would cut off in <5secs. Thus I slow down because I wasn't planning to race anyone. However the IS300 driver "thinks" I am so he goes from 40mph to probably 60+mph. I figured if he wanted to play that I'd take him up on his offer so I did my normal 40mph in a 35mph and actually caught up to him at the next light.
Light turns green and the IS300 starts to speed up into the next intersection. He goes out wide and tries to turn right onto the next road. I already saw this coming so as soon as he gets into the left lane I'm already going WOT in 2nd gear into the right lane. I past him as I shifted into 3rd and fly pass him like there's tomorrow and I wave. I go through 3rd and hit 4th and slow down. We finally hit another light together but he wouldn't even come up next to me as there was no one else at the intersection. I was going to talk to him but it didn't go as planned. I guess he was mad.
I like using 1st and 2nd. I usually reserve 3rd to prove at point. Sometimes it backfires though, all in all it's always fun.

I don't know what it is about IS300 drivers. Nearly every one I see seem to have delusions of grandeur about the quickness of their cars. Maybe these cars feel quicker than they really are.

v6 with 190hp. drivers of them seem to have somthing to prove. yet to run into one with my wrx. the honda was funny enough. 89 with no turbo reving at me. as it sounded pathetic all the while.

awesome kill - anyone know the 0-60 and 1/4 mile times of an IS300?

I agree. I think the IS300 looks nice but unless you have a SC, it's not fast nor does it handle well; it's in a difference niche market than the WRX. The 2s IS300s I've run into on the streets seem to have punk kids driving thinking they're all cool. I just thought it was interesting when the IS300 went out wide to make the right turn.

I've read that the IS300 is an awfully unsuspecting car if you run across one that's boosted.

Cars not that fast but handles well and is fun to drive. This means racing every car you come across
I know, that's the way I felt when I used to drive my friends IS.
I think it has to do with being auto too...

My girlfriend has this car and it is definitely a very responsive car. I'll admit when I drive her car it feels like it has quite a bit of power but I've raced an IS300 on the freeway when I was stock and pulled quite a bit on it. It's a nice car that feels 'quick' but in reality it's not that fast. I think it has 215hp or something like that.

Its a mid to low 15 second car in MT form, so really its no match for even a stock WRX.

It has 210hp I believe, but its pretty heavy. It handles pretty well IMO, but it just wasn't made for speed.

Obviously, they can be made fast with mods, but then again so can almost every other car on the road so big deal

are you talking about the IS300? its not v6....
