STI vs 1 quick 350z

Im on ocean parkway doing around 60mph. I see a silver 350z come up on my bumper. He pauses and then comes up on my right. Looked stock. Then he takes off and lets off. so I come up right next to him. Now there is no one there 12mile staightaway.
So he takes off first, jumps about a car, and I floor it. Middle of fifth Ive got a car length on him. BY 140 Maybe I had 2 cars on him. Now every stock 350z ive run after 4th its no contest. So This Z must of had turbo? Fastest Z ive run.

Sorry Will but if he had a turbo you wouldve got killed. Most turbo 350's dyno over 350-400whp. It could've been s/c but even those are very close to those numbers and are pretty beastly from a roll. His mods were probably some bolt ons w/a safc ....usually thats good for 300whp out of that car.

Hey will ive run a few stock or close to stock 350z's. Its not even a close race. Automobile magazine test four modded 350's. two with boltons one supercharged one with the greddy twin turbo kit. They greddy z was the fastest, ran the quarter at 13.1 thats around what my STI runs 13.1

I see you trap 103.5mph in the quarter which is doable for a N/A 350z. From a roll like you had it is more important to look at the two cars trap speeds rather than E.T. in the quarter. You have the launch advantage in the 1/4 which lowers your E.T.

That is my bench racing lesson of the day!

I ran a lightly modded STi in my Z with just an intake the other night and although he got the jump as he baited me to a horrible starting MPH...I hung right behind him all the way up to 120+ with neither of us pulling.

The "tests" of the forced induction Z's in the mags are complete jokes...the Supercharged cars are AVERAGING mid to high 12s @110+mph and the turbo cars are even faster. You wouldn't have gotten DESTROYED by a boosted 350Z.

This is true. Don't know about destroyed though. The STi did have a turboback and something else. But a boosted Z would of been pulling pretty good

Will, you have to remember that from a roll the only stat that matters is the trap speed. A turbo/s.charged z will trap 108 or better. I'm not saying your not near that but it will not be as easy as your race was, unless he was in 5th or 6th and didnt downshift. My friend has a turbo 350z that makes 450whp and his low boost map runs 365whp. I "fooled" w/him on my low boost map and although he didnt pull me, he wouldve had we continued. Its a fast car from a roll....It sucks you dont know what he had..I'll keep my eye out for him...We'll get the scoop.

Thats right. 1/4 mile times don't mean a thing when you're racing from a roll. I have a friend with a fully built and turbo'd integra. He went to the track and managed to get a 13.3 second 1/4 mile but his trap speed was 118mph. STi's run the 1/4 in 13.0@102 or something like that. You pit these two cars together from a roll and my friends Integra will MURDER a STi from a roll, were talking bus lengths

OK you guys win. Butt I know ive run quite a few z's before. None of the were turbo/s.charged, and they never kept up.

My brother used to have a fully built 2.0ls/vtec trboteg and it put down 300whp @ 15psi his fastest time was like 13.4 because of traction but he was trapping like 108-112 so he should have been in the 12's..

Sounds almost like what my friend has. Only thing is my friends integ is a 2.2ls vtec. He hasn't dyno'd it but my friend got his 13.3 because of major traction problems. He had to shift at 4000rpm in 1st and 2nd gear

Your 13.xx 1/4 times for a stock 350z now changes my perception of the 350z...didnt know they were that fast, nice car

A Bolt on Z could hang with you all the way. I doubt it was supercharged because it wouldve killed you.
