Verbal Kill (Really just a funny story) :)

I pulled into a shell after a few mods on my car and got out to start the process. There were a couple older teenagers in a car and a guy in the front passenger seat threw a question out at me.

HIM: Can you spin your tires in that?
    ME:What?
HIM: Can you spin your tires?
    ME: It's All Wheel Drive.
    HIM: So?
ME: Do you know how much torque it takes to break all four loose?
HIM: I can do it in my F150.
ME: Ok... (I start to turn around)
HIM: Do you go muddin' in that?
    ME: No.
HIM: Why do you need four wheel drive?
    ME: It's all wheel drive.
HIM: Whatever. What do you need four wheel drive for?
ME: A good launch. You can corner a bit faster, usually.
    HIM: Do you race?
    ME: Yeah.
HIM: Well I can spin my tires in my F150.
    ME: That's great.
    HIM: ..... (thinking)
    HIM: I think I'll keep my F150.
    ME: Ok...

Yeah, if I had crappy truck 4WD, I could rev it up and dump the clutch to spin a tire or two as well.

If you argue with a jackass long enough, pretty soon you can't tell which one is the jackass anymore.

BTW, I can easily light up all four tires at will. I just have to have over 40 psi in the tires.

Did he have a sprint car sticker on the back window? That seems to be common of sprint car fans. They think that your car is fast if you can spin the tires. Now, if you can powerbrake and do a smoke show.....well you got yourself a 7 second drag car!!

Well, I must be a jackass then.
It was pretty amusing to listen to his reasoning.
OTOH, I wouldn't be stressing my drivetrain enough to light up all four. I aim to have too much power to try crap like that. I need to save my tranny until it's barking.

    WizardBlackWRX,

I wish I was there in the car with you. I would be crying laughing... I can picture the whole thing too. Seriously, how can a guy just sit there and throw so much crap to your face and being serious the whole time?!?!? And don't get me started with the burnouts.... WHY???!????! I guess I'm too conservative or still too French.....

Why was that 'neck comparing the WRX to his F150? I think I'm going to slap a lift kit and some 38" gumbo mudders on my Rex so I can relate to the redneck mentality.

    LOL
I'm not sure if he had a mullet or not.

What does my WRX run in the 1/4? Not sure; I don't drag on the strip.
I am constantly doing new mods for the business (www.Quantum-Racing.com), so I don't have a total. I don't have all the parts on but I came up with a quickie of 7 grand or so. <shrug>

Well, I guess if the WRX was in the box of the truck, then an F150 would run the 1/4 in about the same time as a WRX. That is the only way I could see for that truck to avoid staring at those beautiful WRX taillights.
