I'm cruising with with two friend on the highway doing about 70 when the latest model rx7 comes out of nowhere egging us on. It definitely had an exhaust and could definitely hear the turbo as it went by. So I start to follow him letting the revs climb in 5th, before I know it I'm at 100 just pacing him seeing how far he would go. Side by side ,empty highway, full throttle in 5th I go by him faster then I would have ever thought, carrying an extra 350 pounds ,besides me. I pull a good 5 cars on him to about 125 and he passes by us with a real sad look on his face. I sure as hell thought it would be closer with their light weight and 255 horsepowerI was quite happy and if it seems at all unbelievable, i dynoed at 264hp and 265 trq..by far the best race i have been in

93-95..i believe those were the last years, i know i was quite surprised myself
He could have had a ****$% tune on his car or been detonating...But anything is possible, its the streets and you won..thats all that matters.

I raced my brother's friend in his RX-7 with my WRX when I was stock. From what I have seen, RX-7's performence is all over the place especially when they get towards the end in of their engine life. When his car was happy, it would smoke me like no tomorrow but on a crappy mood I would hang with him from a role.
None the less, RX-7 are sexy cars and they are really nice overall as well.
