This is a discussion on me vs. 350Z within the Comparison: WRX vs World forums, part of the Community - Meet other Enthusiasts category; I still think anything could've happened based on the fact that the Z is putting down at the most 15-20 ...

I still think anything could've happened based on the fact that the Z is putting down at the most 15-20 whp more than his rex but the Z does weight at least 300lbs more.

That leaves the Z a small margin of error... If you ever end up in Kansas (God forbid), I'll give you a run

I like how when someone here says they beat a particular car (Z)that someone else with the same car (z) will step up and chalk it up to the guy didnt know how to drive or he wasnt trying etc etc. WRX is not saying he owns all Z's on earth.

He said he beat one, which i beleive cause i did too. Mine was closer tho......he was on my rear door at 90 from a 40 MPH roll.
Your run is a little more believeable (although I still think a properly driven Z should take a WRX with yours or his mods based on my experience with them)....he claimed to put 3 carlenghs on the Z....
WITHOUT LAUNCHING....and that's really hard to believe.

how much should a WRX with those mods (up-pipe, gutted downpipe, MBC) put down on a dyno?

I put down 243rwhp in my Z for reference.

Do WRXs weigh UNDER 3000lbs??? I have a the heaviest Z (Touring) and my car weighed 3194lbs at the track last time I was there.

I raced a 350z back when I was stage 2. I beat him. All the 350z's here are stock so now I don't even bother.

I read that the MT Z weight ~3400lbs (must be the roadster version) and they put down about 220-230 to the wheels. I'll use yours as a reference since thats what you drive

Edit: A setup like mine mated with a REAL exhaust I'm guessing anywhere from 210-220whp. the car weights prolly 3100lbs. I don't have it dyno so don't hold me to it

The roadster does weigh around 3400lbs...and most Zs put down mid to high 230s for hp...

So the weight is really close to even (+-100lbs)

You can get 230 maybe even 240 whp in a stage 2 wrx.

The trim differences are mostly suspension and luxury items I believe. IE base, touring and track models.

I have yet to get my car dyno'd but i attached the dyno from Cobb of a Stage 2 WRX.

In my race i think anything after 100 the Z would start to walk me, hence the 90 shut down. Altho since my flash to stage 2 the car feels like it can go pass 100 and still hang but thats just testosterone filled stupidity.

EDIT: Im not sure what Mods that dyno represents but i think ill call cobb and find out. According to Cobb all you need to be able to flash to Stage 2 map is a just the downpipe.

Call cobb and they said that Dyno includes just the Turboback exhaust. So if one is to remove the catted stock uppipe he will gain about 5-10WHP and spool up quicker about 500RPM's.

So i could see the car dynoing in around 230+

Good info Kris. At least I have a better idea of what my car is getting to the wheels. Does the auto lose more from the crank than the MT?

My personal opinion no. The 5MT advantage is better launch (5k) where we are limited to 3k without a Torque Converter(4k+ with). Also factor in the stick can go into the redline where as the auto wont let you with out modifications.

Cobb states the best time they got at the track was a 13.4 with their Stage 2 with turboback. Add a uppipe and should be 13.1~13.2 with a good launch of course.

I have a buddy with a 5MT that i raced. I had uppipe, downpipe, and catback with stock "catted" midpipe and no ECU flash. He had just a MBC at 16PSI and stock exhaust in which at the track he ran a 14.1 with his setup. He put a car length on me off the line but then it was dead even until about 70 where i started to pull on him. Remember i was on stock boost which was 14 PSI to his 16, but i had exhaust. We shut down around 100 with me at his door.

So since i actually havent been to the track.....

[turn on paper race] I estimated that i was around a 14.3 or so. With my flash to stage 2 and gutted midpipe i think that at least good for 13.7ish [turn off paper race]

yes...and the more "luxury" items you add...the heavier the car gets...hence my fully loaded touring model is heavier than the others.
