they actually did bolster the rear fender a bit. you can kind of see it in the pic. i think it looks bad but it doesnt make it look like rice.

The STI spoiler has to be the fugliest thing ive ever seen. Other than that....thats my only complaint about the car.
The EVO's altezza's is also my only complaint.
Id give my left and right nut for both these bad biddies.
They also changed the styling of the rear wheel wells on the exterior. There is a bulged piece of body work that's about 1" going around the well. Wheels are also 8" versus 7.5"Originally posted by hellafastWRX
The exterior stayed the same except for the JDM headlights.
The interior changes include different A/C and heat control knobs and a different radio face.
And i believe it got a new front LSD![]()
Interior wise they moved the DCCD switch and mirror controls.

The front differential is also different now (helical) and there is a yaw rate sensor incorporated as well.

i just checked out 05 STi in dealer's lot yesterday and the rear fenders stick out less than the old ones. I don't like this idea. Other than that, it's still pretty cool.
I agree, the front of the EVO's looks SO MEAN, and the wing adds to that. But from a profile shot, or without the wing, looks like the same rental lancer that valets with me. And that sucks they lessened the flair on the STi's, one of the reasons I like sedans better than wagons. Guess in two years I'll be after and 04 STi.

The rear quarter flares are MORE aggresive then last year. THere is an add on trim piece that comes out like a 1/5 inch.
There is an 05 Crystal Grey in my garage right now and I can tell you the new color is amazing looking in person. I had a WRB 05 on deposit for me but they called me and said to come check out the first 05 they had, well I bought it because the color was so nice. I traded my 02 WRB WRX in on the spot.
You'll have that sometimes.. good choice.Originally posted by Sever

Will Crystal Gray Metallic paint be available on the wrx as well?
to those of you mitsu fans that think the evo handles better than the sti because it has a better suspension...you're somewhat right but what you're not considering is the STi has double the wheel travel of the evo, the sti was actually designed to be both a road race car(USTCC or something like that) AND a factory rally car (SCCA ProRally), this evo 8 couldnt take the off road abuse that the sti can because its made only as a road race car. thats my 2 cents.

Yes, the new color replaces the Platinum Silver on all impreza models, AFAIK
