awdf00's WRX vs. my GTP

Went to Heartland Park in Topeka last night for street legal racing night, where I ran into Will (awdf00). We decide to race, and it's on .

He gets an immediate 2 car lead from the start while I'm looking for traction. Once I hooked up, I made up maybe a 1/2 car, and then we both stuck the rest of the way, neither of us pulling on the other. Fun time overall.

Blah, I need headers, anyone want to buy me some?

nice run... so he held about 1 and half cars on your for most of the race??

do you know what mods the wrx had??

I forget what he has. His name is awdf00 on the forum here, and his personal best is 13.9, same as mine. AWD vs. FWD is what kills me in most wrx matchups, as I "usually" make up ground after the launch (unless the other guy has more mods, of course).

(sigh) all that torque (probably about 320 ft/lbs) and I can't get it to the ground.

do all your mods help out top end???? i have driven a couple gtp's... one stock and one modded with intake, catback, pulley.

both had some of the worse top end i have encountered... its like hitting a wall at about 65-80 mph

the mods that really help top end are exhaust mods (bigger downpipe, headers (HUGE difference)). high ratio rockers or a more aggressive cam also are big top end boosters. A reprogrammed computer (our version of a "chip") may also help some by changing air/fuel delivery up top.

My top end is only "decent" at the moment. However, it is enough to pull on a stock or very lightly modded WRX up top.

What's the redline on your GTP?? I forget what it is.

I noticed on my dad's GTP, it has awesome low end torque (wish my WRX felt like that sometimes) but it kind of died out top end.

Redline is 6K rpm's. you're right about the great low end torque IF you can get it to the ground. if you can get traction, though, GTP's can actually beat many cars faster than it for the first 1/8 mile or so.

I thought it was 6k. It really should be higher so the v6 could sing.


edit: congrat's uke. Looks like you finally got to race a WRX. You watch, that's the only thing you're going to be able to race now and you'll get sick of losing. j/k
