you should have a pretty good chance or at least a better chance from a stop. But I'm not that knowledgeable about launching autos. If I had stage 2, I'd race him from a roll just to see how you compare.

Cobb stg 2 = (AP, TurboXs SBE, Godspeed Up-Pipe)
Should I even try it? Just spent the money on the mods and I don't feel like getting dogged on after just installing them. I doubt we'll do it from the dig since I have an autobut not from the highway. I heard they're a beast in the upper range.
Any thoughts or experiences?

from a stop it can be pretty close, but we be forewarned... the faster you go, the more he will pull.
from a roll he is going to beat you. they are top end mosters and are geared very well, not to mention the nearly 9k redline.
race him anyways though... no point in installing mods if you are afraid to race. your car will never be the fastest, your going to lose eventually. no point in trying to avoid it. plus its good experience.

s2000 is a quick car stock, but where it really shines is on the top end.

I don't think it qualifies as a high end "monster" althought it does alright.
A Stage 2 manual could take one from a roll but the auto may not fare as well. I doubt you'll get dogged, maybe beat but not spanked.
Just make sure you're in the right gear to get boost quickly cuz I'm sure he'll be in the right gear to get his Vtec on...
A stage 2 is close to a stock STI in whp and I dogged an S2k the other day, granny shifting with my mom in the car...pulled on him easily in every gear up to 90 when I shut down.

I noticed that the S2000 didn't really move til it got above the 6k range. So it had a bit of "lag": Waiting waiting waiting... woohoo! *shift* waiting waiting waiting... woohoo! Etc..
Or maybe it was the lack of torque? That thing was definitely moving once it made enough noise, and its too bad she didn't show it off on the highway.
Maybe it was the driver, but the S2000 seemed to have problem hooking up from the dig.
Anyways, I figured since I'll be putting down more whp than her plus I won't have to wait forever for my boost to kick in, it might not be such a bad run
I'll try to get the race recording after we go at it next weekend.

So your saying from a roll, a stage2 5MT WRX will be way faster than the same setup stage2 4EAT WRX?Originally posted by Abe Froman

Id believe it if you said from the dig.
Ya thats what hes saying and i agree with him. I raced my friends wrx (auto) when we were both stock and i would pull on him pretty well in every gear. The auto wrx's have worse gearing than the manuals, so its no suprise that a manual with the same mods will pull on it.

Will an engine management change the gearing in the auto also? or just a more aggressive timing and higher boost?Originally posted by BobbyD

Answer: Yes, during the initialization process. Cobb-transmission gnomes are uploaded via the OBDII port.
The gnomes take the elevator shaft all the way down to the transmission, and they do an entire gearswap.
You gotta be careful though, on hard launches, gnomes (and old gears) can pop out of your obdII port.
