Wife getting new car

My wife is sick of her SUV and asked me if she could get a new Chrysler 300C with the Hemi. We test-drove the car yesterday and I must say that I was impressed. The 5.7L HEMI Multi-Displacement V8 engine with 340 hp at 5000 rpm and 390 lb.-ft. of torque is standard on 300C Model. The car is heavy at 3700 LBS but still runs a mid 14 sec 1/4 mile @ 100 MPH. The final gear ratio is 2.87, but Chrysler offers a performance rear. I believe the salesman said a 3.45 rear. Anyways, I may be placing an order for the gangster 300C lead sled mobile this weekend.

its like mid 13 sec car that traps like 104-105 its really fast and it probably handles better.

Would love to get her one, but she is a stay home mom and I just purchased a new home that set me back over 500K. In other words, the 300C is $ 33,000 dollars and a S4 is $ 50,000 Dollars. If she wants an S4 she will have to get a job

3700 LBS. The car is a tank, but it will be safe for my wife and 21 mos bay girl. I will op for the 3.45 final drive ratio. In the fall an AWD version will be avalible.

3700 pounds? With the aluminum V6s perhaps. The land barge weighs over 4000 pounds with the iron block/head hemi. Welcome to Caprice Classic/Crown Vic land!

You are correct; the weight of the car equipped with the Hemi is 4018. It’s a gangster cruiser not a drag racer. The car was made to pimp it slowly down the road and look good.

i am not a fan of the car, but i like more sport. there is an article on the car in the new car and driver. lol, they entitled it the "mobster car".

here are some more accurate specs on it from car and driver May issue.

0-60 = 5.3
1/4 = 13.9 @102
top speed = 130mph
road holding = .77g's
curb weight = 4140
c/d observed fuel economy = 17mpg

they said the back seats are incredibly large, and the interior is very luxeriuos, and from the pics, i would say they are right.

in the mag they compared it with the acura TL, G35 and marauder.

TL and g35 did better in every catagory other than acceleration.
G35 and TL tied for first, and the 300c kinda far behind, and the marauder just sucks.

nice car though, very large and def. for city cruising. good luck with the purchase. wife might have a faster car than you

Funny how history is repeating itself again with this kind of car...

Looks kind of cool, IMO, but too bulky to be athletic. I'd pimp the G35 in a second over that. Still would look cool blacked out, lowered, and with a supercharger and loud ass exhaust. It's like a new-age Impala SS.

You could also wait for the new Legacy GT to come out. Turbo 2.5 liter... It'll still weigh in about what a WRX weighs (3200 lbs) and have 250 hp and be about $30,000. I'm thinking along those lines when it comes time to replace my WRX. Should be out within the next couple of months...
