there is a guy In Va. trying hard to find picks of the motor cause he is trying to copy me
Why not share your knowledge of the drug stopping Corolla?

V8 guys can't understand why we'd waste our money on these cars and the mods when you could pick up a LS1 for super cheap and mod the hell out of it
Like the LS1, the WRX is a performance car, a Corolla is an ordinary family sedan... bad analogy.

Cause I want to remain different, I don't want people having the exact same set-up as me. I don't mind helping out others though.

You are different...a turbo Corolla is rarer than the elusive Pipsquack bird.

What year is the Corolla of that Autozone guy?...

I know that for the 1.8 Corolla engine that came with the '80s Corollas there were tons of aftermarket parts for them. There still is a bunch of builders for those guys.
It personally wouldn't be my car of choice. but there are people out there doing some sick times on the 1/4 mile with those things

Different strokes for different folks... people choose the cars they like even though they may not be the fastest thing out there but thats part of the challenge. Making a car that's least expected to have any power totally annihilate people. That's the whole idea behind 'sleepers'.

With that said, I have a friend w/ a toyota matrix that's looking to turbo or s/c and have been searching forums for info. Not really that much out there but theres potential. I would definitely say that a Matrix isn't a sportscar but it does have the Celica motor so it can pack a punch... just not a hard one

Here's a link of a s/c corolla just to give an idea. I believe they have the same motors ? Honestly, not much to worry about but I'm sure a turbo would have a lot more potential. From browsing the matrix forum it seems that the few turbo matrix's put roughly 200hp to the wheels. This is on the XR model, equivalent to the celica GT... not the GTS. Hope that gives you a clue on what to expect.

Yup that Red Corolla in the link has the MR 2 Turbo motor the J-spec motor came with 240hp, the US got the 200hp version.

not everyone has the luxery of owning a wrx at a young age. If you have a good reliable, and economic corolla that is paid off and runs well, why would you sell it? although its not the best car to mod, you can hook it up with a $2,000 turbo kit and run 14's which isnt earth shattering, but he still has that paid off reliable, good on gas mileage, car that is a bit of a sleeper.

the 80's corollas with the 1.8 and Ae86's are awesome platforms to start of with and great after market support, then and now.

threadstarter: there is too much up in the air to really decide. some are weak kits and untunned running 15's, and others are built running 12's its to hard to decide. also, what year is it?

    it was this one.

Didnt mean to get everyone riled up.
Yeah the WRX is not the fastest thing on the planet, but i think its a good starting point.
With that car, i would have sold it for like 2k and bought a GSX starting with 195hp awd. I think thats a better starting point than a Corolla

Personally, I really don't find a problem with someone modding a corolla for speed. You have to work with what you can afford or what you have.

It is when they start adding those huge aluminium wings to otherwise stock cars, like corolla's and cavaliers, that I find it totaly ricey!
