    WRX vs. Pontiac Formula 350

I drove a early 90's model Formula 350 before and it was pretty quick but I absolutely smoked this guy I raced the other night. He only hung with me in first gear and when I hit second he was toast. I know he was tryimng because his car was really loud. I think something was wrong with it or he didn't take care of it because like I said, I drove one of these before, automatic, and it was pretty quick. I didn't even launch hard off the line, if I did he probably wouldn't of enven hung in first gear. My girlfriend was laughing the whole time. She thought it was funny that this little blue station wagon beat a big loud V8 car. I've seen newer model formulas and they are much faster.

Nothing was wrong with his car, those cars are SLOW. VERY slow. Everything's relative. In the early 90's/late 80's mid 15 second cars were fast. Now a days 13's stock is minimal.

I never thought of that. You're probably right. Nowdays it is common for a "fast car" to be running 14's or 13's in the 1/4. I just installed my first upgrade, short throw shifter, and I love it. Cold Air Intake is next along with a manual boost controller.

    Which shifter did you install?

Yeah, its kind of weird to think of my '90 5.0 LX as 'slow'.... (no longer own it), because in its day is was fast as anything else around.

It said Formula 350 below the door so I'm assuming it was a 350.
