I am being challenged!

just want to know if anyone want to predict the outcome. It is going to be a fun race.
My car:
02 WRX
PE1818, FMIC and blah blah blah.
Co-workers' car:
69 Boss 302 with 429 engine.

I think I am going to get owned, but well, we are racing for lunch.

any inputs?

Well, against a Boss 302 I'd say you could hold your own. Being as your co-worker has an engine swap I'd say good luck I'm sure he did more than swap in a bone stock 429 (which would be more than a match in it's own right).
It should be a fun race

Next time see if you can race him in the 1/8 in the rain.

My boss has a '70 mach 1 with a 351C. it's modded to hell and has more than 500 at to the wheels, and i think he runs a 12.xx 1/4 mile. I'm just saying that he could be pushing alot of horses and torque.... be careful, those things are monsters...

well, to make the fact even worse. He claimed to have some special nasscar 4spd gearbox.

Will this be on the street or the strip? If it's at the strip make him use street tires just like you, or you likely have no chance. On the street, wish him goodluck on hooking up and then freak him out by launching your car like a cannon. When people look over and see a car put a length or two on them right away it's difficult for them to not just floor it even if they know how to properly launch a lower traction high HP car. Oh, and if it's on the street limit it to around a 1/4 mile in distance or maybe up to 100.

I think with the mods Slin02 has on his WRX, he should be able to just barely hold him off at the strip. But thats with a perfect launch with the WRX and a crappy one from the BOSS

My .02 on this thread, the Boss 302 back in the day was ment for trans am racing and it handled like a dream. Not an awd dream, but about as good as it gets for late 60's. I've driven both the boss 302 and a shelby KR500 and I would say the 302 could hold it own around a turn. A small v-8 with a 7,000 rpm revving motor (rev limiter was set to 6475 I think) is a running machine.

As far as the race, if he has a modded FE block in that car and he isnt tubb'ed out traction will be a huge issue. Buddy just built a 67 with around 500 hp in a 390 and he expects high 11's on his BGF DR. The problem is I doubt it's a stock 429 just tossed into that car. I would think the launch would be pretty even, but come third gear he will be opening up a big can on your car. His car isnt geared at all to go above 100 so after that he might drop. You never know till you get out there through.

so I have returned.
We went out to a very low traffic area for low speed run, and then went on the highway for highspeed run.

Run 1: from the stop.
4k launch, perfect, hooked offline and took him by 2 car, by the end of the first gear he pulled even, by the end of second gear. It was all over. He was pulling way to hard for me to try.
Run 2: from 20mph.
It was about the same as the first run. Only he pulled even harder.
Run3: highway run 50mph up
Nothing to see here, he walked me. By top of 3rd. I gave up, he had me by 2 car lengths.
Run4: Highway run 70mph up
Here is the odd one, I called it the sympathy race, but he said he was trying 100%. He didn't destroyed me, matter of fact, I started to creep up by triple digit.

well, I know street racing is bad, but it is a boss302, Please don't flame me for trying.

He was running on drag radial ( if that makes any difference at all )
