A lot of MB's will start out in second gear from a light (the automatics). My Mom's turbo diesel did this. But once it got over 30 mph the acceleration (while not a rocket ship) was very linear....just a continuous push until over 100mph.

    Gear ration

    Gear ration

WRX has great gears for of the line jumps, but suck for highway racing.
didn't the ratios get changed in the US distro transmission? so i heard the original was even more painful for american highway speeds compared to japanese. . .
I hate my WRX's stock horn....

If a car has decent HP and an automatic, it's probably slow off the line. You can remedy this by changing the torque converter. This isn't usually the case with performance cars but in hi-po sedans, it's almost always true.

My brother's 94 Supra would bog its way to a 2.4 60ft after the conversion to single turbo because of the stock converter. Once it was replaced with a Precision Industries triple plate, let's just say it doesn't do that anymore

Even my Grand Marquis would see mid 14s with a new converter (on the mod list; currently runs ~ 15.0)

automatics are ideal for drag racing once you upgrade the torque converter.

You probably dont remember because you modded youre S4. You probably put diverter valves and a chip which takes away most of the Lag.

My car was 100% stock. Not a single mod. There was NO lag whatsoever.
