I have heard that stock rexes actually weigh out at under 3,000 lbs. The curb weight is a little exagerated.

I would estimate crank at 300 myself....but whp is what really matters.

I thought lightweight flywheels added horsepower at the wheels (as opposed to the crank) because they lessen drivetrain loss. Wouldn't that allow for more power at the wheels?

nope, it's kinda like adding lighter wheels but helps sooo much more.

Okay. I've seen people claim whp gains from pulleys before (not on WRXs, though. No one seems to dyno theirs after getting pulleys), but maybe I am confused.

pulleys don't give the same effect as a ltw flywheel. You do actually gain power from a pulley.

When I still had my wrx I raced my neighbor's friend who had a stock normally aspirated 3000. We were both stock(in terms of engine) and I murdered him from a stop and a roll. A good friend of mine has a 93 3000 sl and then a 95 dodge stealth TT that has some modifications putting down over 400hp, he likes the body style a lot. He even admits the shortcomings of the non-turboed engine, but he does enjoy the stealth alot.

no disrespect but the 3si (VR-4) insnt the most desired platform cuz its a freakin tank (up to 4200lbs ) and anything above 500hp is just livin with "borrowed power" not hattin on 500hp but there are stock block supras pushin 1000 whp!!

The 3si plaforms aren't the best drag racing platform and it's widely known. Supra's and skylines are due to the fact they can hold near 1000 whp on stock bottom end.

Ok I've had it with this thread! You drive a FWD car that doesn't handle very well and is too heavy for it's own good even if it is lighter than a VR-4, it's NOT quite fast. GET IT RIGHT

This guy gets all heated that in a WRX website guys are raggin on him for his NON VR-4 SL tank when all the other guys in here drive a WRX. I can't even follow who is actually going to race him, but i hope that rex blows the freaking doors off that SL peice o' crap. There is a reason why you don't see a ton of SL's out there - THEY ARE SLOW.
