    Top speed run

A buddy of mine was kind enough to ride along with me and filmed a run from second gear on the highway. We were on a very sparse stretch with little traffic so I decided to see what my car could do.

Using the top speeds for each gear (from an old issue of Road & Track) I have calculated a couple times using the video. Keep in mind this is far from scientific as I am just watching the timing on the video and listening for my shift on the video. I have no idea how accurate these are and without proper instrumentation theres no telling.

Third gear to Fourth gear (64-91mph) : 3.5 seconds
Fourth gear to Fifth gear (91-128mph) : 8 seconds

I'm using the chart from a stock wheel/tire WRX, but I'm running 17inc rims. So I'm not sure how far off the top speeds for each gear would be.

I have the video if someone wants to host it.

Having as much fun as you can before it sells huh silver?

ok, you have to stop showing how cool your car is, i hate CO now because everyone with a WRX is keeping it or the dearlships are chargin too much for 02's/03's. The coasts are full of sweet modded ones for good prices. But ill never buy a car without a test drive and that sucks.

I don't think that was knock knock knock, it sounded like a chip bag or something tapping the mic on the camera.

That was when I let off in fifth. Sometimes when shifting it will flash at me. When going WOT then shifting or letting off the UTEC has to jump back down to the 0% column quickly. I am going to be having it road tuned to take are of it. On my logs it shows up as a knock count of 1 every once in awhile. There's never any audible knock from it.

Thanks for hosting the video man!

Yep, that's knock. There's a quick fix in UTEC, just search nasioc for "shift knock".

What speed do you think you hit? I've done top speed runs on a closed road but the STi has a speed limiter.

I am not sure exactly. The needle was pinned down as far as it could go. I'm sure the speedo is off a bit at those speeds anyway.
