Caddy STS

first off, i don't really road race, and i never post in here.

98 or so (that gen, same as my grandfather's...) on route 2 westboud. the guy was driving like a total ass, tailing people, swerving in and out of lanes before the road upens up to 5 lanes from 2.

i watch him from a few cars back, and as the road widens, decide to send a message.

rev match to 3rd, nail it running close to 16lbs of boost. get right up on him, flip on the high beams as i'm right on his ass, then nail it the rest of the way to redline around and by him.

about 2 miles later, i see him bombing up in my rearview, and just as he gets bumper to bumper w/ me, i downshift again -- nail it and take him to 100 by about a car and a half.

i put on the flashers, brake and as he RICER FLYBY's ME, i flash my beams at him. as i'm getting off the exit, i see the guy get nabbed by the cops.

Reminds me of when my friend and I had the worst race EVAR on Route 2 in high school. I had my mom's 1985 subaru GL station wagon (POS) and my friend had a 1980 or so Chevette.

We couldn't get over 60 on belmont hill, but as soon as the road starting dipping, whew boy, we both topped out at around 85 and promptly got pulled over - TOGETHER - as our friends behind us watched and laughed.

At that time 1989, MA briefly had a law that allowed localities to charge $10 per MPH for every mile over 65 (1st 10 - 55 to 65 was $50 or so). The ticket was HUGE and basically wiped out all of the money I made that summer working at a sucky pharmacy.

OH MEMORIES. TOTALLY UNRELATED MEMORIES.

aahh!! a local boy!

i went to belmont hill school, and grew up in arlington.

the guy got nabbed about a mile after the second waltham street exit where i got off.

you grew up around here?

He coulda picked up the STS for under 20k used... just cuz he drives a caddy doesnt mean he has money.
