I am not a HUGE american car company fan, but I don't hate them either. I just choose those particular cars that I like. I don't like the escort, but like the old 5.0 mustangs. You get my drift. I am a HUGE viper fan as well. This car, I would easily put up there with the viper. How could you not. It has looks, power, looks, power, looks, power, oh yeah, there's other stuff too. While I am not a big fan of this throw back fad that is going on with car companies and just society now as a whole, I do have to admit, that the decision to produce the new GT40 was not only a great idea, but one that brings back much respect for a car company that has long had a so-so reputation within this country and others.
Have you read this article? 2004 SRT-10 v. Ford GT. It requires Adobe Acrobat to read it. Bottom line is that it's a drivers race...both cars match up incredibly close.Originally posted by 2001S4

A co-worker has an SRT-10 (and two GT Vipers) and that thing is just dead sexy. I watched him throw the SRT-10 around an autocross course...pretty damn cool.
simply beautiful.
beautifully powerful.
Haven't read the article yet, I'll check it out though, thanks. While I do like the SRT10, I definitely fall into the large group of fans that are loyal to the original styling. The new viper looks too much like any other car out there (it still stands out, but not like it used to). However, you can't argue the power, handling, and creature comfort upgrades that have been added to the car. You can park any one of these cars in my driveway. Please, really, I mean PLEASE park one in my drivewayOriginally posted by mx_9

Would you like the any better if you saw them traveling in pairs?![]()
Actually I have. Didn't get pictures though. I live in an area where expensive cars are quite common. I still like the SRT10, don't get me wrong. I just feel that it doesn't have that edge, that outrageous look it used to.
I love the car. Don't get me wrong, i'm honestly in love with it.Originally posted by MidnightFLAT4
no one said they were excellent... they are affordable and pretty reliable. Everyone cuts costs somewhere. Back to the topic ford has more racing heritage than any japanese manufacturer... They provided us with some pretty kickass machines, and right in our own back yard.
But because you know someone with a broken down tempo, should that keep you from buying a 150k supercar that is an icon in the motorsports world. IMO, NO!
i know of plenty of sh!tboxes of all makes. And what really matters is engineering, and success when it comes to sports cars.
what we have here is a car that has it all. Engine, brakes, trans, MR Layout, IRS. And looks to match its 124mph trapspeed.
Ill take one please... in black with white stripes... (i was always happy lusting after the viper, 360 modena, and porsche turbo. but this car might make me forget all about them.)
Rod Millen says "you need to respect this car"
skidpad kid: you're the BOMB
Shard of me: i know
Joshiscookin: Hey fragment.
I think the GT is a sweet car that can deliver incredible performance. But if someone gave me the choice between the GT and a 360 Modena, it's not even a question. Sure the GT might outperform it, but I will take the Ferrari any day of the week.

The only Ford i'd ever buy, hands down.
I'm pretty big for Chevy but I don't think they'll have much of anything to compete for the next few years. Hell, they might just give the 'domestic supercar' market to Ford.
For $150k , I think I'd still buy a WRX and dump some serious cash into it though.
Funny thing is, we're buying a house down here in south Carolina for $100k.. For 50k I could still buy another scooby and dump some mad cash into it. Then again, i love wrenching cars
Huge props to Ford though, good to see such a great car come back, and they couldn't have done the commercials any better.

bottom line, they are american cars and i'd never risk it
Drag racing? I like my racing to last longer than the average orgasm...
That car is absolutely amazing. If I had a choice between a new Viper or a Ford GT, it would be the GT hands down. The GT is by far more exotic in my opinion. I love that car.

i dunno... 150k subaru... it definetly wont be a daily driver... its gonna have a PITA clutch, or a huge stall on the automatic. I want my supercar to behave like bliss, no turbo lag. dip throttle in.... smoke tires. All while listening to 5.4 liters and blower wind, behind me... I suspect that once you see one on the streets, it will win you over.
Its a class act, and lately ford's build quality on some models have been skyrocketing... (F150, mustang)
Theyre saying that its more daily driver friendly than the new cush viper.
OT: in that article, the vipers brakes broke all production car stats records. Im guessing they put some of the benz guys to work on the braking system. hehe

My father is getting a Ford GT. He has already met with the Ford people and has a build number and date of delivery. The Ford engineer told him that they left 100 hp on the table. The engineer told my father to perform the same mods to the GT as people are doing for the Lightning and Cobras. He also told him that a Kenny Bell SC will be available that will push the car to 750 HP.
