    New Car Question

    Need to buy a new car for the wife. Her 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee is a big POS. Her short list consist of the following vehicles:

    2002 Infinity G35
    2002 Volvo T5
    2002 Audi A4 3.0
    2002 Audi S4 Avant

    My wife loves the Volvo while I am leaning towards the G35. Has anyone had any negative experiences with any of these vehicles?

    Thanks

    Derrek

    I can tell you i love my S4 and wouldn't mind the avant. I am not sure if it comes in 2002, i believe that is the new style, in which case there is no S4 yet. All the cars you have listed I have heard nothing but good things about. Does she like those cars?

    S4 Advant.....fast car and some hauling abilities.

    Plus when you drive it......people you kill will feel worse being beat by a station wagon.

    I've had experience with Volvo's (Cross Country) and they're not bad, but the build quality really isn't quite up to par with the Germans or Japanese. Also, the turbo-lag on the Volvo's can get pretty annoying. The If she gets the S4 avant, you'll probably steal it from her from time to time, so if she doesn't mind handing over the keys then go for it!

    Also, have you thought about a BMW 325/330xi, they're great cars, and a bit less expensive than an S4.

    Don't worry too much, anything on that list is great, you can't really go wrong

    Why not do the selfish thing and buy her a bicycle. Then you can mod your own car.

    Just kidding!! Don't have any experience with any of these cars because I don't have the money. But I like the S4.

    The S4 might be difficult to afford. My wife retired from work 3 months ago and has absolutely no plans to returne to work. She wants to take care of the baby for the next two years. I had to sell my 97 Cobra to make up the down payment on one of these cars. I plan to put down 15K and pay the $2500 dollars difference between trade in value and the actual payoff. I hope to borrow no more than 20k. I want to keep the payments at or below 500 bucks.

    Have you considered maybe a Passat Wagon to lighten the car payments a bit?

    Passat Wagon GLX: $30,100 ; add 4Motion, $32,925

    Passat Wagon GLS: $25,600

    Options:
    5-speed Automatic= $1075
    4Motion= $1750 (must have automatic)
    Homelink= $130

    Cold Weather Package (heated seats & front washer nozzles)= $325

    Leather Package= $1500 (includes Cold Weather Package)

    Luxury Package (Sunroof & 15" alloys)= $1435

    Monsoon Package= $325

    We are going to look at the WRX wagon this weekend. $25000k - 15000k down payment = low payments. She wants the Spoiler pakage and the STI suspension. She loves my WRX and thinks this option might be a better deal for us. We what to keep the payments low.
