For the guy who said the tires are same size...your wrong. They are 6 inch on the Neon (not 6.5 like WRX), but I think the tire itself is better than the all-seasons we have.

Here's the link...read the whole thing.

I even put a tape on my tires there 6 inches stock.

I see no proof that Neon out handles a WRX, the SRT-4 is know for it's poor handling.

    I just found this.

    The neon does do better

    Look at the EVO's 60-0 106 feet.

if the srt4 is known for poor handling and the wrx does slightly if how little slightly worse then what does that make the wrx?

Dunno how much i trust that. They had the EVO do 0-60 in 5.3sec (slower than the WRX...5.2), and under the WRX they show a picture of an Evo engine bay.

The whole point of me posting the Road & Track article was to show some sort of "proof" of the SRT-4's supposed "bad-handling". I wasn't looking at skidpad tests (which I've heard are a tire test), etc., I was looking at the results of Road&Track racing those cars around a coarse and seeing the times. For the guy who said it's okay because the cars that came ahead were handling machines, maybe that's comforting to you, but if I bought the Neon, I would be mortified with that article. Those cars were all similarly priced and I (like probably most here) thought the Neon would smoke the others in track times because of pure power in the straights. Guess I was wrong.

I'm not saying the Neon sucks. I think it sounds like a great machine, especially on the highway, I bought my WRX after driving a brand new Mazda3 hatch so you guys know AWD huge for me. Maybe people who drive the Neons can comment on this...but I love how my REX pulls out into traffic, like from a STOP sign and taking a right or left. My Mazda had rediculous wheel hop under power while turning. I would assume the Neon has the same difficulty with all of the extra power. Anyone?

there is never a doubt that awd is better day to day. always will be. from a stop if you just turn and punch it the car will go no where and give a great big smoke show and wheel hop all over the road. that just isn't how to drive the car. you wouldn't rev a wrx to 3k and just dump the clutch. the car falls on its face bogs to hell and the clutch would cry the whole time. (bin there done that with my wrx) does the srt4 leave room for improvement sure. is it as bad as i think everyone thinks no. it does well for what it is. having a iron 2.4 liter in the nose really hinders weight balance but making 500hp on the stock internals is a good place to start making up for other down falls. each car has it great positives and great negatives. i think making a car turn better is sometimes easier to help then making up for its lack of hp. as simple as a set of sway bars and strut bars. with some wider rubber and the car really responds well. we could sit here all day and talk about each car and what it lacks and does well. each car does everything at least well and excels at others and should be left at that.

    Better gas milage
Better crash ratings (Subaru crash victims keep their legs)
Better handling characteristics (neons pitch the rear)
    POWER REAR WINDOWS.
    6disc stereo

    The neon features:
    Badass motor (bigger displacement)
    Better tires
    cool fake metal shifter knob

Its obvious what Dodge wanted to do with this car. Out drag the compacts... It does it

Subaru built a 365 day a year, rain, snow, gravel car
that gets almost 30mpg, sprints to 60 in 5-6 seconds, sounds great, is fairly reliable, is predictable, moddable, and rides as smooth as an accord.

I am content with my car, i love it and wouldnt give it up for anything other than an EVO or STi, because AWD donuts are seriously some of the most fun things to do in a car
    Re: handling
You are right the stock SRT sticks up in the air, jumps around in hard braking from 60 or up, and does not ahve good road feel.
But: I have MOPAR Stage 3 coilovers which are 3 way adjustable, Hotchkis swaybars, Complete prothane bushings kit, and some DC strut mounts (nominal effect) as well as 15 lb SSR GT2 racing wheels and Michelin Pilots 225 45 ZR 17.

I am not sure you would have a chance in a slalom. Car pulls documented 0.96 g and the new prothane bushings give predictability to the road surface. This car can rally race, especially when the camber is dailed to 1.5 negative in the front and 0.5 negative rear and I can corner (15 degrees) at 80 mph. MOPAR has marketed well with their suspension upgrades. Don't underestimate.
MOPAR Stage 3R Turbo, STS, Air / fuel ratio (wow, look at the pretty lights), Oil Pressure Boost (30 PSI), BOV, Borla Catback Exhaust, MOPAR Stage 3 Coilovers, Magnecor Wires, NGK Iridium Plugs, BDJ Heat Shield, Booger Bushings, Hotchkis Sway Bars, Stage 3 CM, AGP MMs and KOZZ trans., Complete Prothane Bushings Kit, Catch Can, Fan Mod, 180 thermostat, DC Sports F / R Strut Mounts, Silver Stars, SR-7 remote, Escort GT-Timer, Panther security system, Michelin Pilots 225/45/ZR17 on SSR GT2 wheels
