RS simply = stripped out EVO8. I rather have power window and rest of the modern day goodies in the regular EVO8.

beside the option for the hand made carbon fiber wing is KOOL

not sure if that's available for the RS to be an option.

It isn't designed to be a huge seller (based on the limited production units) and I expect it'll be popular only with the hard-core track junkies. This scenario is highly similar to the '95 E36 M3 Lightweight. See a slick example here -- M3 Lightweight.

same scenario, yes, but a bad example because the M3 LTW had a higher price tag then the regular M3 back in 95. BMW also "added" instead of taking off the rear wing.

The new e46 M3 CSL basically continued the same idea they did for the 95 M3 LTW, better performance + higher price tag.

on top of that, BMW didn't make the M3 feel cheap like what Mitsu is doing with the EVO8 RS.

144lbs in weight reduction will decrease 1/4 by .3s and 0-60 by .7s? Is there any other differences beside the weight?

Who knows. Every Evo is slightly different. Vishnu has dynoed tons of them and found that stock ones vary greatly in the HP and TQ departments.

For example: I know plenty of guys who have gotten better than 13.6 (my time) with their stock Evos. And I'm pretty sure I don't suck at driving, so they can't be way better than I am at launching and shifting...

It's also possible that they gave the mag a "stock tuned" ringer car. I've heard of that being done before as well.

I've decided if I can't get a good deal on an STi I will buy an EVO RS. I think you get a lot of car for the money and I don't care about the creature comforts. Mitsu will offer an "Urban Package" which will include the A/C and body colored mirrors/handles.

RS comes with front LSD. Should help, but I don't know how much.
