friends 99 civic - man is it fast. he bored out the heads so he could drop compression to 8:1 then turbocharged it (22 psi) with an air-to-water intercooler and a TEC III. He is running a Garret T04/3 turbo - runs very low 12's (12.2) consistantly he says he should be able to do 11.99 but hasn't yet.

for my WRX to get there is at least $4K in mods

bored out the heads wtf are you talking, probally had the block bored from GE from some sort of b18 to a 2.ol. why is he running a tecIII? when hondata is much better? at 22psi i hope he is running better than a 12.2. there is a b16 that is running a 12.0 @ 15psi.

your boy needs to do a little more tunning.

not sure abput how much he spent all u really need is
    b18b swap
    injectors
    hondata 2b
    dragIII turbo kit

w/ the right tunning the stock motor will last a long time and 12's all day long

you've got some nice mods, but you need some engine management to maximize all the things you've done. the stock ECU is confused!!

MBC will certainly help, and will be safe with the uppie, but you'll get a lot more out of all those mods with a chip, or even a nice EBS, like the AVC-R or the SBC-iD

    Update:
    MBC installed. Water spray installed.
Went out to the races. Took a VR4 w/ exhaust. Now the rematch w/ my friend w/ the s-charged Si. First from a roll, pulled on him hard but after awhile he would start making some ground. From a stop he had no chance, I launched hard and pulled on him so much he could not catch up. I think his clutch is really about gone(that's his excuse anyway).

Heh, at least his excuse wasn't "I shifted into 5th instead of 3rd!" like my friend in his turbocharged Si Good job!

Oh yeah I forgot, as I was pulling on him he said I shot out a 2 foot blue flame out of my exhaust. I guess this is because I have no cats but is it harmful to the car? I guess it might heat up my rear kit but can this cause any engine problems?

This won't cause any engine damage, but try not to set anything on fire.

One thing about catalytic converters: they make damn good flame-arresters too!

    underdriven?

To tell you the truth I don't notice it anymore...maybe I'm just use to it though. For me the gain is worth it.
GFBs are underdriven as they are lighter and smaller, check the tension on your belts, that may be the reason for the dimming. To be on the safe side, get your alternator checked as well.OK about
the civics, just don't get blown away by a Tiberon...THAT would be humiliating .
