Angry My dad is having a hard time picking a color for his new daily driver, please help...

What color Lotus Elise is your favorite??!!

    Funniest thing ever:
My dad tells me he's getting a new car. I ask him what kind. His coy response: "I'm not telling you."

Two weeks later, riding with my mom to go pickup my WRX < from the crappy used car lot where it sat for two months > and she says of a passing car: "That red is just like the red on the Lotus."

[In my head]WHY DOES MY MOM KNOW WHAT A LOTUS IS?[/in my head]

Wait for it, wait for it, wait for it....

"Dad is having trouble picking between the Titanium Grey and the Candy Apple Red Color."

As cool as I can muster: "Oh, yeah."

"He put his first deposit down, next one is in a few months and he has to pick the color. He'll have it by summer."

    "Cool."

We walk into McDonald's, conversation ends.

I see my dad on X-mas day. Not a word about the Lotus.

Next time I'm see him, I'm going to ask him if he picked a color yet.

My dad loves to keep secrets but my mom is SOOOOO BAD AT IT.

I found this weak-ass website with pics:
    http://www.kirschmann.ch/lotus/colors.html

    Titanium Gray:

    Ruby Red:

    Racing Green:

Those are the choices. I had to change mine to British Racing Green to pay homage to the car's origins.

    OK,

So I told my dad this morning that my mom let the cat out of the bag.

"Dad, you need to yell at mom for letting the cat out of the bag."

    Dad looks confused.

"I'd go with the Ruby Red over the Titanium Gray."

Dad laughs, "I wanted to keep it a secret, but your mom couldn't wait to tell you."

I told him the whole story. Apparently he is #63 on the dealership list with an estimated total of 50 cars/dealership/year. He doubts he'll get one. I assure him that someone will back out and he'll be able to get one, but perhaps not the color he wants. We talked for a while about kit cars vs. "production cars" and I asked him if he was considering the MR2 Spyder. He said absolutely not. It's the Lotus or a completely different breed. PLEASE NOT A CADILLAC!!!

Hmmm If I had to pick id say titanium.

But my first choice would be white if it was available.

That magnectic blue is sweet too.

    Yellow would stand out.

If I was getting a car like that Id want it to stand out.

No caddy? The CTS-V is pretty snazzy, tho the Lotus whomps on it style wise. A true sports car for sure.

    Cool story:

The Lotus name was a bit of serendipity. The orginal car that was designed was put into an auction. No one bought it, needless to say, the designer(can't remember the guys name) was pretty miffed. The auctioneer/auction helpers tagged his car as 'Lot Unsold" and abbreviated it lot-us, so he just adopted the name Lotus. Read that somewhere, I guess it's true. Colin Chapman? That the name?

Is not the CTS A LOT more expensive than the Lotus? I have no idea what the US Lotus is supposed to sell for.

The first half dozen cars my dad owned were blue. To this day he swears he will never buy another blue car. He has been true to his word. He hasn't owned a blue car since I was in elementary school.

I think my dad will go for whatever color of these three is offered to him first. (Depending on a cancelation.) He is too impatient to wait until next year.

    Weight:

[1773 lbs] (including full tank of fuel)

    Weight distribution: 39% front - 61% rear

The 2ZZ-GE 1.8 litre 4 cylinder 16-valve engine with Variable Valve Timing and Lift-Intelligent (VVTL-i) system has been chosen. This class-leading engine, mated to a six-speed gearbox and mounted amid-ships, has been tuned by Lotus specifically for the U.S. Elise and produces around 190hp.

    1800 lbs/ 190HP = 9.47 lb/HP

    3100 lbs/ 280HP = 11.07 lb/HP

    You sure about that.
