smoked bad by a C5 Vette

All in good fun I guess. I was lined up to one at the stoplight and decided to see how I would fare, I have a stock 4eat. I manually shifted the gears, no brake torque. Once he realized I was trying to race, he downshifted and took off. Sweet car though, not sure if it was 350 auto/manual or the z06, I assume it was the z06 though.
if I would of brake torqued, how much better do you guys think I would done (like it matters)?

To be honest, nothing would have mattered regardless if it was a stock C5 or Z06.

The easiest way to tell whether it's a Z06 or not is to look for the rear brake ducts just in front of the rear wheels. Of course there's always the chance of running into the "C5 ricer" which is a stock C5 coupe with Z06 badging and non functional rear brake ducts that are taped on.

lol, even with a launch, autos are 15.0 at best. An auto c5 does what... low 13's?

Hey, sometimes it's fun to watch the faster cars perform. I know he's going to smoke me, I just like to see a performance car prove its stuff! I usually give a smile and a thumbs up to show respect for the guy's ride!

Please pardon my ignorance, but what's "a lid"?

would have done 'better" I wouldn't say well. An auto WRX still isn't going to compete with a C4.

It's not stock if he has a lid. More like modified very mildly.

A "lid" is usually a bigger intake box which is smoothed out on the inside. It replaces the smaller more restrictive stock airbox. The gains are about 5-15rwhp.

Aah. Good to know. Thanks for the explanation. Respectable horsepower gains for so simple a mod on a naturally aspirated vehicle!

yea, its like a $99 part...My friend Jack has a 00 z28 with just a lid and a cutout (hole in the exhaust pipe right before the muffler, cost him $50) and he dyno'ed 326rwhp 317rwtq

    Bowdown to the LS1, everyone.

on edit, keep in mind I dyno'ed 341rwhp with a supercharger, exhaust, intake, chip, etc etc...Basically, I made 14 more rwhp than him with 8lbs of boost and tons of bolt ons.
