I visited the acura dealership with my buddy when he picked up his Rsx-S. The salesman raved on and on about how that CL-S 6spd pulls all the way til redline.
With 260hp + 6spd manual, how fast are these cars?
Anyone get the priviledge of racing one?

I've ridden in one of those older CL's with the GPS option.
Really really nice ride around town or on the highway. Especially compared to the WRX.
I've also played with an older TL Type S which is basically the same car, just a little heavier supposedly. Wasn't too impressed. I was following the TL on a local twisty road, and the guy tried really hard to leave me behind. It was kind of ridiculous how badly he'd exit curves and i'd feel guilty when he'd nearly go off the road a few times. I ended up passing him with a little effort since he was actually slowing me down through the twisties too much.
Are you from the phillipines by any chance?Originally posted by idyllwild

0-60 in the low 6's from what i hear. with mid to high 14's i think
I did a lot of development on that car ( I do engine ecu and sensor development for Honda R&D) and a stock WRX should beat it to 60 easy and be pretty even in the quarter but after that don't even try
I've driven that car at high speed, time attack mode, and on the track and it accelerates very well above 100...
Of course, a modded WRX with VF30, injectors and all the toys would be a match I guess.
At any rate, I certainly wouldn't be afraid of them on the street![]()
That is the number for an automatic. I think the manual version can hit low 14's. Just like the new maximas.Originally posted by mark

I test drove my friend's CL-S (auto) and it was not really impressive as I've expected. Too heavy to be fun....

One of my friend got a CL type S 6 speed recently. I haven't race him yet. It does have a lot of power, so I'm guessing that I can get a jump on him off the line, but he'll probably pull on me from a roll. I dunno. He wouldn't race me off the line after I showed him the beauty of all wheel drive.![]()
I had a 2001 CL-S Automatic (no manual in 2001). I traded it last July so I don't have a direct comparison, but I think my WRX feels faster. The CL-S is pretty heavy. I didn't drive it above 100 enough to know how it's performance was in that range. It did seem to have more torque.
Regardless of the performance, I really miss my CL-S. I would have purchased a new 6 speed instead of my WRX, but I didn't want to spend that much on a 2nd car. The AWD sealed the deal for me on the WRX. I wanted something that is good in snow and rain.

My friend has one with the automatic. The best any of us (our group of friends) has seen him run is about a 14.9. He claims he ran a 14.6 but he "lost" the timeslip. Anyway i've raced him twice. I spanked him both time from a stand still i pulled on him all the way up to about 70 where i shut down where i was still easily pulling away. I wonder if/when i hit 4th what would have happened, i'm guessing he would be catching back up. And from a roll of about 40 i pulled on him but not as badly, obviously. Anyway he's selling it since he bought a supra. btw he's got a dual exhaust. it's a sweet car, too bad it isn't a 6-speed.

Yes a lot of car will smoke the rex after 80-90. But then this is my story ( my rex is moded ). Raced and pull away from a late model 5 series and I shut down after 80, of course he keep going like a mad man and blew by me, guess what he flew passed a cop turn around point of that highway well over a 100, voila a trooper just happened to be there and pull out and chase him downOriginally posted by ellisnc

I won and he lost BIG time.
I guess I am like Chuglobal, I don't race in the street like it is limerock but I do like to try limerock someday after I finish my suspension mods.
