Exclamation Attn Georgia guys: Grudge Wars

There is a Mustang Club based in or near Atlanta that has Silver Dollar Raceway in Reynolds, GA rented for May 19. Gates open at 9:00. $20 to race. $10 to watch.

    "All fast cars are welcome."

I'm hoping to be there in my GN.

That'll be your chance to make a statement and earn some respect (although some of us already respect you).

    Hey Richard.

Can you give me directions to the "DRAGON"? Or maybe a little more info. I will be up in Atlanta area in about 1 1/2 months and I would like to try this DRAGON course, if there is something going on that particular weekend.

Why does it gotta be the same w/e as the NE NHRA Sport Compact Nationals.

Get another track day in late June, July, or even August. Make sure it's not the same w/e as an SCCA ProRally in my area (SPRT and the Maine Forest Trail Rally are upcoming this summer) and I'll come down there and show you what I do to 4.6L Mustangs:

    Code:
1998 Mustang Cobra vs. WRX with <$500 in the motor.

    	Mustang Me
    60'	2.623 1.900
    330'	6.745 5.664
    1/8	10.115 8.779
    MPH	73.18 79.05
    990	12.887 11.373
    1/4	15.386 13.727
    MPH	92.17 98.61
    BRING IT!

Oh, hell. can you believe that Tail of the Dragon was almost my back yard. I lived in Knoxville for about 10 years and have taken that stretch of road mabe 25 - 30 times. Didn't know it had a name. That is one of the best curvy stretch of roads that I have ever driven and have had dreams of driving my Rex down the Dragon.

    Yup

0-60 right before a turn then what happens ... That's why I don't care going 140+ because I'd like to see that happend on a regular basis. 0-60 or even 0-80 is something everyone could use everyday.

Ok. But how many posts on this foum document how a WRX dropped Sportscar X through the twisties? Mostly it's "I beat the guy off the line and had 3 car lengths when we shut down at 100". So let's back up the smack talk. Go run with these guys at the strip and show them that a lightly modded WRX will run mid thirteens.

    Humm ...

I did the 1/4 mile @ 14sec w/ a MBC and uppipe and 0-60 @ 5.3sec. I haven't been to the tracks since the downpipe and cat back but I know my 0-60 is now @ 4.8sec. I'm hoping for 1/4 @ 13.8sec w/ everything in my car and 13.7 w/ everything out of the car and 2 gallons of gas. All I want is 0-60 @ 3.9sec in either my WRX or STI.
Also I haven't heard anyone beat anyone through any twisties especially Mustangs, Cameros, TransAms, etc. I guess the reason why I'm so proud to own a WRX is that we can do ALL the above ... straight and twisties and be near the top of each class.

This is what I know, a drag car and a track car have complete different setup when it get to the top of the game.

Drag car have special launch control system and the shock/spring is optimized for launch and striaght line runs. Big slicks in front or back, tinny tires front or back. Some have solid axles and wheely bars. I want to see one of them make a turn.

Race car is setup to hug the corner and get the fastest exit speed possible and nail the striaghts. Brakes are very important part of a fast race car. They are not optimized for straight line launch.

So if you take a RWD or FWR car and set it up for both you got a half ass job. AWD might be able to handle both thought not perfectly, still it can generate some good run times.

Have any one read about the 500 hp EVO VII, 11 sec 1/4 and a monster on the track. Now that's a car that you can race any time any where any weather, You might not win it all, but you will win a lot
What mods, dude this baby is stock
