I can see you taking him off the lien that badly, but to put even more distance on him from a roll seems like a stretch.

Is you car modded? Maybe his car was ragged out?

Considering a 2001 Cobra is about 200 pounds heavier than the STi but only has 20 more hp and 17 more lb makes this story believeable. In fact, I think even from a roll, the STi may have a slight edge.

LOL. I guess that should be pre-2003 (i.e. not supercharged, which was what I was trying to get across). It was a 2000 something, or at least that is what the guy said. Sad thing is I knew there were no Cobras in '02

03 cobra will always lose on the street unles its running slicks

    they are traction challenged.

its HARD to launch those things correctly and any pavement imperfections become glaringly apparent.

Not so. My 1997 Cobra Ran a 13.75 @ 104 right out of the show room floor. After 1500 miles the car ran a 13.42 @ 104. My brother ran my 1997 Cobra to a 13.29@103 with the air box removed and Nitto DR's. After the 4.10 gears were installed, he ran a 12.89 @ 106. Then we installed a pro m 77, Pulleys, short headers and full exhaust and ran 12.4 @110. Then we added a 52 mm throttle body and ran a 12.30 @ 112. I have seen some 01 run 12.90 with only K&N and Exhaust work. The new Mach 1 with a similar engine, I believe it has higher compression runs 13.10 out of the box. Look at the Septembers Motor trend magazine. They ran the 5 speeds to a 13.18.

I've seen plenty of 96-98 cobras with those bolt ons running low-mid 12s @112-113. They respond very well to the right mods.

Those are the Numbers my friend. These cars love mods and gears. You can wake them up with out the use of any forced induction. I have friends that are smoking 03's from the dig in a N/A Pre 1999 Cobra's. Now from a roll the story changes.

Silly kids. Seems like everyone likes to pick on the Cobras. Well a 03 can hold it's own on the street. I've seen some of my friends launch the beast from 3,000 rpms on stock tires and run 1.80 60ft times. And if the terain sucks, the 03 has more than enogh power to stomp pleanty of car from a idel launch.
