Uppipe Downpipe WRX vs. 98 GT

I was in the car with a fellow I-club member, and we see a 98 or older GT with exhaust and who knows what else driving up ahead. I make some noise to him and he pulls up next to the GT. At first it didnt look like the GT was going to go, but he hit it and my friend took a second to react. The Mustang started the race about half a length ahead and through 2nd we were dead even.
I was surprised though since as soon as my friend popped it into 3rd he started pulling decisively. The Mustang driver was cool though and didnt do a fly by and turned off instead.
The best part is that his Girlfriend was in the car!

WOW. Your fried beat a high 15 sec car. A 2000 Civic Si can pull on a 98 GT. 3400 lBS 225 HP = Real slow. The regular bpu might bring the car to a low 15 sec 1/4.

high 15 sec? No...are they slow, yes. Some have gotten high 14s stock. They still had over 300lb/ft and 225hp. They weighed 3400-3500 lbs. I had a 97 GT, and while it wasnt fast, it was no slouch. A stock WRX should be able to handle one, for sure, but gears, intake, exhaust, and pulleys (basic mods) and they can hit low 14s.

Friend of mine had a 97 and he could only run mid 15's. I had a 97 Cobra and used to beat him by buss leights. He finally got a 98 Cobra. BTW he ran a 13.20 in a stock 98.

Hmm I would've thought that a Stang GT would've had more power than that. I thought they were in the high 200's. I've backed down from a couple of races because I thought they were more well endowed with power.

Yes, Stoplight Warrior is right. My mom has a 2001 GT w/ 260hp and 301lb/tq. The best run with it is 14.46 @ 300ft. above sea level. We get humid summers so I don't know if that affects the run at all or what. The 2003 Cobra's have 390hp/390tq and run at 12sec flat.

Correct me if I'm wrong, I'm pulling this out of memory:
89-93 GT: 225hp /300 tq. (for some reason I want to say they dropped to 215 hp in '93 although nothing was actually changed)
    94-95 GT: 215hp
    96-97 GT:215hp
    98 GT:225hp
    99-03 GT:260hp

I go to the races every weekend and have never seen a "stock" 96-98 GT go faster than a 15.00...yes there are a couple of modded ones that go quicker. Those 4.6 were not that great of a performance motor until '99-03...
Did anyone see that magazine that did all the mods on a 98 GT and put it on a dyno? They did all the bolt-ons and it only gained like 20hp (give or take)... they said something about the heads were very resticted.

Damn trolls Who cares...a win is a win...its a Mustang for christ sakes they're meant to be raced and if you beat one props to you, sometimes the faster car does not always win and usually it does,...who cares...its should just be another notch on your belt regardless of what the haters will say cause I'd rather post beating an older Mustang then post being beaten by one.
