I think the best thing on that list is that a Hummer is ranked faster than a Yugo..
thats like telling your buddies in h.s. that you have a vette a "chevette"
This is a discussion on What cars can a WRX "beat" ??? within the Comparison: WRX vs World forums, part of the Community - Meet other Enthusiasts category; Looks like one is automatic (slower one)...

Thanks for the list, thats cool of you to do. I would like to see a 3rd Gen Rx-7 (favorite car) vs. 2002 WRX (second favorite car). Battle of the small turbo engines!
I belive this would qualify:
2002 Subaru 1993 Mazda RX7
Both manuals
Theoretical Top Speed 147 mph 172 mph
0-30 mph 1.50 s 1.70 s
0-40 mph 3.08 s 2.40 s
0-50 mph 4.26 s 4.00 s
0-60 mph 5.59 s 5.00 s
0-70 mph 8.05 s 7.00 s
0-80 mph 10.04 s 8.50 s
0-90 mph 12.59 s 10.10 s
0-100 mph 16.66 s 13.00 s
100 ft 2.65 s @ 37.17 mph 2.80 s
500 ft 7.62 s @ 67.64 mph 7.50 s
660 ft (1/8 mile) 9.14 s @ 75.61 mph
1320 ft (1/4 mile) 14.37 s @ 93.87 mph 13.70 s @ 102.5 mph
Basically, the WRX gets owned, but no surprise thereThe Twin Turbo RX7 is one quick little car! The WRX could take it from stoplight to stoplight though! Long as it wasn't too long of a stretch between lights.

There is no way I'm gonna go pick a fight with Darth Vader.
I tend to agree with that. I know for a fact that a stock GN can hit high 13's without breaking a sweat, and low 13's to high 12's are easily achievable with just some minor mods. The 14.4 looks more like an 85 number, before they bumped the output up.Originally posted by PKer

Don't confuse the Grand National though with the GNX. It was "rated" at 276 hp/360 ftlbs compared to the "plain" GN which was "rated" at 245/355. I put the quotes in because they were plainly underrated by Buick.
A WRX could still take it in a stoplight drag though...stock for stock. The GN and GNX were both low 6 second 0-60 cars.

A stock GN will crush a stock WRX. Start modding and it gets ugly real fast.

I almost lost my life in one of those monsters. My cousin had a 1987 Buick Grand national with a Stage 2 block, heads, cam, and PT 88 turbo upgrade running 30 LBS of boost. It was 1993 while visiting my family in Miami, my cousin and I decided to cruse the hot spots Miami Beach and the coconut grove. While at the grove, a Columbian guy approached us and asked if we wanted to run his buddy for some big $$. My cousin said yes. We drove to an isolated area in Kendall and meet the Columbians. These cats trailer a late 80's tubbed out thunderbird to the site. The car had a monster V8. They claimed 1000 hp. Anyways my cousin told me to stay in the car with him. He had a bad feeling about the race and the guys. We lined up and of we went. We had the t-bird by 3 cars to 130mph and the 1/4 was not over. All of sudden the car shock and we went sideways at over 140mph. I do not remember how many times we rolled, but it seemed like we were in a spin cycle for minutes. Anyways the car was totaled and caught on fire. The costume roll cage saved us from getting crushed and the Columbian driving the t-bird pulled us out of the burning car. The G forces knocked out my cousin and I. That GN was one bad ass ride. It ran high 9's at over 150 mph. My cousin had well over 70 g's in that car. Not including the purchase price. Engine modifications, suspenssion, brakes and safety was his big ticket items.

I was wondering about that Grand National, times looked slow...
On another note, the 2004 Turbo Forester is a monster.
I just traded my 2002 WRX Wagon for thr Turbo Forester XT. It's a sweet ride and feels considerably quicker than a stock WRX.
