I just Pi$$ them off by putting on my blinker the entire time and slowing down with the rest of traffic. Also try bobbing your head like you are listening to good music. It always works.

If you wanna Pi$$ them off real good then when the slow down you gun it and give them the bird.

Giving a thumbs up is more irritating to them than a middle finger...trust me...I know. Be enthusiastic about the thumbs up too--smile!

The ultimate way to enrage a tailgater (or bad driver in general) is to wave. Seriously, wave enthusiastically and smile big. This is going to get my killed someday.

No, I'm not kidding. I don't live anywhere near California and am used to obnoxiously low gas prices...and according to a friend from Russia, they have it better than us (he estimated $.79/gallon). When you're used to regular gas at less than $1.40/gallon then move to premium at over $1.83, that's a bit of a jump.

For everyone else...thumbs up and waving are quite effective. For some people, it confuses them, so they just keep going. Some people, it makes them think and amuses them and diffuses the situation. And for the rest...it pisses them off more than a middle finger salute would. In some situations, I don't recommend a thumbs up, middle finger or wave.

Not to different from my area. Hondas just started getting popular(I sold my Si in 2002). But it seems like every teen with a civic thinks he wants to race me. Mostly I just laugh and cruise.
It's sad because I can't get real cars to race me. A few sad mustangs, but nothing fast. Boring!

Don't use the E-brake. Do left foot braking and maintain speed. They will usually freak out and panic stop when they see your brake lights.

I just swear and speed up a few mph. If that's not good enough, they can pass me. Sometimes, I give them the bird (from behind the dash-so they can't see it). I'm a wuss. If I actually HAD A FAST CAR, I would let them have it.
