My point was that these guys who drive (Tiburons,Celicas,RSX,Spec-V,etc etc) like to say "well my modded so and so can walk a stock WRX." Why not mod them both and see what happens? That's all.
If it's any consolation, I'll race modded cars with my stock STi... It's all for fun anyways...

I'm thinking about swapping my stock axleback on and finding this kid for a rematch.
I ran my stock axle back for a while and it is fun to pull up to a car thinking you are stock and smoke them while they are wondering wtf just happened

I think i might challenge a sti to a race, only to see it blow past me. I definitely wouldnt think for a second that my car is faster.

but as for stock and lightly modded wrx's I definitely think I can take a few out. from a roll of course.

Two things, the stock Tiburon does not have 180hp, they over estimated that and had to reduced the rating to 172 I think. Maybe this year it actually does have 180, but I know a year or so ago, when the new one came out, they had to reduce the rating. As for a stock WRX vs a Tiburon, I ran on on the highway a while bacl, 60 to 110, and had him by a couple of cars and I started in 4th gear. If I started in 3rd it would have been a slaughter.

Probably due to the fact that none of those cars can keep up with a stock WRX from a stop or a roll (well, they can keep up to an extent but still lose)...so they want to even their odds.

I mean god, who mods their cars nowadays to keep up with faster cars? What a silly concept!

Why did you mod your car anyway?

Sorry, I don't think that's what you meant, but it came across that way...and it was a HUGE generalization at that.

    170hp

many people having clutch slipping problems and supercharger owners all went to aftermarket clutch.

a little bit better paint, lighter flywheel (only if you complain at the dealership). other than that, nothing's been changed.

When you compare that to an RS impreza, a v6 mustang, civics, regular rsx's, etc etc...there's not much for that price that can hold a candle to the spec v. The neon srt-4 is a couple grand more, and you get way more performance, but I would think the spec v would own the neon as far as longevity...

I got my WRX for 18K, used but still

A lot of people think their car is fast because either it's the fastest car they've ever owned, or they don't have much experience. My friends have been chased by a kid in a '94ish S500 Benz because they said "Your car is SLOW" and quickly drove away.

Hell, I knew one dude who thought his '91 Camry 4-cyl AUTO was fast. He said, "I was next to this Testarossa, and I got the jump on him but he left me like I was standing still."

Which seems to be the case in the Celica topic here...Celica owners are CONVINCED they can beat a WRX even though all our experiences show otherwise...
