Convertible Firebird vs WRX

ha!

well, last night coming from a restaurant with my fiancee stopped at a light and this punk kid in a dirty white convert. firebird thought it would be cool to race me. He starts revving, etc and light goes green and he explodes out!

i casually accelerate and ignore him.

Then he sticks with me and keeps popping his clutch at about 45 mph trying to chirp his tires or something.

i still ignored him.

So all you are probably asking, why didn't I spank him down?

Well, it was night...i don't want a ticket (lots of cop cars on this one street) and my fiancee was in the car. I wasn't about to do some stupid street race and get pulled over or worse. No way. Not worth it.

Anyhoo, if i was by myself maybe...just maybe..

Besides the fact that if it was just a Firebird (and not a Trans Am), he had no chance. V6.

There are LS1 Firebirds..

The Formula for one.

Yeah, a TransAm IS a Firebird. Firebird is the model name and Trans Am refers to the 'trim' level. There are 3 trim levels; Base, Formula, and Trans Am.

As mhoward1 pointed out, both the Formula and the Trans Am are LS1s. The Base is not completely underpowered either - that V6 is specced at 200HP.

Yes, I know. However when you see a Firebird Trans Am from the rear, it says Trans Am. Firebird says Firebird and I'm not sure about the Formulas. I do know the Formula says "Formula" on the side and doesn't it also have a different hood. Still a discontinued F body Mullet racer.

I've never had the opportunity to examine the badging on the rear.. I'm never behind them.

yeah..i'm not super sure which one this was. He was besides me and it was night. Plus i always get confused on Camaro's, Firebirds, TransAms, etc. They all look the same to me.
