It has the same effect as adding an MBC on a stock WRX (more or less). Obviously the chip is compensationg for the ignition and fuel maps but it's also tuning up the BOOST (just a much safer way of doing it). I've seen stock WRX's go from a 14.2 car to a 13.6 car just with an MBC and nothing else. That's got to be good for nearly 50HP/50TQ.
    2002 WRBP WRX

Old setup = BPM GT turboback, PDE up-pipe, Unichip w/custom map, cooler plugs (NGK range 7), Walbro 255LPH FP, MBC (15 PSI), and custom built turbo utilizing the 13G housing (Internals: Hitachi compressor wheel, Mitsu 15G turbine lightly clipped).

    1/4, 12.88 105.10 - 1/8, 8.09 85.96

New set up = Now w/UTEC and STI Injectors

    1/4, ? - 1/8, ?

Not so anymore, but before the 1.8T's were uprated too 180 from 155, they did. Now the APR chips add about 35 horses.

neuspeed chips top the charts and 35hp is like 10 on the dyno to the wheels or so

By friends raced last night.. WRX 03 VS 03 GTI 1.8T 5 speed...

MODS were.. light weight wheels on WRX BBS 16lbs I think he said, full turbo back exhust and some chip not a piggy back system.. $$$ he said.

GTI- Full turbo back exhust, APR 100 octane program (chip), intake, light weight wheels 13 lbs!! and an additional racing valve that allows for an aditional spike of boost. hard to explain but it's off the Audi S4..

They started from a 45 MPH roll.. and in the end they were head to head.. all the way up to 140 MPH where the WRX started to pull slowly and they shut it down somewhere around there.
