the evo has a 16g turbo which for over about 10 years now have helped DSMs get into 11s as well especially for the 1Gs. The evo has a better head, valvetrain, drivetrain, etc than any DSM ever had so it's impressive that it ran an 11 with a stock clutch, stock injectors, etc. with a better clutch, more fuel, and more tuning, mid 11s on stock turbo is definately possible.

someone mentioned 9s, there are a few in the world that run 9s already and a good amount running 10s. 4g63 is a very good motor.

also someone mentioned EVO costing 30k plus... that was definately true a few months ago but now that things have died down a bit and the STI is out, EVOs are being sold for MSRP or a tad less... about 29k before taxes and license.

I expect the STI will take a bit longer to reach 11s and ultimately 10s because the engine is so new and only avail in the US (not that the car cant do it) so it's gonna take some time to develop parts.

either way, id take either over my gsx anyday!!!

Yeah, thanks for reminding me .

Just trying to keep it "on topic". We've already read plenty of Evo VIII vs WRX threads.

yep, thats right...4 cams...if you think about it, (at least this is how i think about it) the cams can be much lighter since they are much shorter, but also have the same rigidity. yeah, hopefully the price comes down on the cams...as i might want to add some someday down the line...
