    My WRX vs. Evolution 8

A buddy of mine got an Evo 8 a month or so ago, seen him around a lot in my rex, but he was always going the opposite direction. Finally caught him on a 2 lane road, going the same direction. He was in front of me, and gunned it in second, I did the same. He gained about a car length on me right in the beginning, and didn't gain anything else all the way up to 125. He is stock, my mods are in my signature.

And to all of you who say "Bullsh*t, the Evo is way faster", he is not that great at driving. Also, his best run ever is a 14.6, which for that car gets the "thumbs down"

It does take some getting used to. I've finally got my shifts down now, except I miss 2nd once in a great while and 4th occasionally, but from what I hear, that has something to do with the gearbox design, as others experience the same problem. It seems funny. Think about it. How do you miss 2nd and 4th?!?!? Also, this is my first manual. So I'm lunch for a seasoned veteran in a highly modded Rex or STi.

Side note- I had some pipsqueak try to race me for $100 this weekend in his N20 Stang. 13.1 is what they say he runs. Pathetic. I laugh in his general direction.

it doesn't take a great driver to push the gas down when you are already moving...

I was at the drag strip last friday and saw an Evo there. It was my first time and I was running in the high 14's. I never saw the Evo out of the 15's. The guy that was driving was new to the track, as well as driving a 5sp. Apparently on his first run ( I had just finished a run) he was paired with another new guy and when the tree turned green neither one of them left the line. I heard it was quite the sight. Gotta say though, the Evo's are nice looking cars.

This is OT, but I'm starting to like the look of EVO's outside more and more.

Interior isn't that bad either, sorta simple and calm in that focus way.

How much of a difference do you think the .5 liter makes for mod potential?

Does 4 wheel steering makes that much difference?

I was just wondering about that.

EVO has more leg room, which is a plus for me.

Neither car has 4 wheel steering. The STI has an "adjustable" transmission where you can tell the car how much power you want to send to the front/rear. Both cars are AWD (4 wheel drive).

Why? If he IS running a 13.1, he should be a great match for you...even moreso since you apparently can't shift.

I do think its stupid that people bet money however...that I laugh at.

What is this with people wanting to race for money? On a side note I went to check out the EVO was maybe considering selling the rex for one but they didn't want me to test drive it even though they had a yellow one with a temporary dealer plate on it so it not like it hasn't been driven. Anyways they wanted to get all kinds of paperwork started and stuff and I had made no decision so instead I got some cool EVO brochures and a Fast and Furious DVD for free. Ever notice how everyone in that movie has 2gs rolled up in their shirt pocket.

Nothin wrong with racing for money.. as long as you know you're going to win... a bottle fed stang is nothing to laugh at though... he may just end up handing your ass to you on a silver platter and u'll be handing back the $100.

I forgot the Evo engine is hand crafted by god himself.
