WRX vs Late Model Toyota Pickup

I'm tooling through Pleasanton, come to a stoplight (on Valley just east of Santa Rita). Late model Toyota 2WD mid size p/u comes up next to me. Light turns and I start like I normally do (low revs no boost) and I hear the truck really get on it and pull ahead. I figure he wants to play so I step on it.

We are about even when I blow the shift to second. Completely missed the gate. I didn't grind, just took my time and got it in gear. By this time he had two cars, and was laughing (I could hear him with his windows rolled down) and slapping his door.

At this point we were coming up to the next light, so I didn't contest it any further. I wanted to pull up next to him and give him a thumbs up but he turned right and I was turning left.

I'm guessing he had the TRD blower like my friend does. Those things are quick but not that quick. I just suck. One of those days when I'm just uncoordinated.

Anyways I thought it was hella funny, especially his reaction, so I thought I'd share. He's probably going around telling his buddies at the trailer park how his pickup is faster than one of them thar Fast-N-Furious cars.

Don't you hate it when it is your fault and you know you can smoke the hell out of the other person's car?
