Top speed in WRX thats been experienced

I am not condoning going as fast as you can...I just heard that a guy in an unamed sports car got pulled over for doing 145 in a 65
    on 91 in Vermont.
I was on 91 in CT headed northbound doing about 80 and a 300Z TT lew by me. There was no traffic and it splits into four lanes so I figured I would try and catch him (or at least get a better look).
I got to about 125 and the WRX was still pulling pretty strong but the 300Z was nowhere to be seen and traffic was ahead.
I thought 125 was pretty fast (not too mention jail time).
But the more I talk to people with mods, the 140's seem to happen all the time.

I am curious about top speed with a new ECU, can it go faster than 150?155?

Where are the limiters...at what speed? I heard WRX is 130 and STi 142 or 147 or something like that...

I have pegged the speedometer a few times...I don't believe there is a limiter. If there is I didn't hit it.

Okay, good...the dealer offered to remove what they said was a 130 mph speed limiter on my brother's 2002 WRX wagon. It's not that I'm gonna go fly somewhere but it's nice to know there's no need to remove a limiter...

The 5MT has no electronic speed limiter.

I got an APEXi AVC-R for use in my PT when turbo went in...obviously a WRX can use it. Think I should hang onto it until warranty on STi is out, then use it, or just sell it with my car?

    Just to clarify:

    5MT has no limiter
    4EAT has a limiter at 130 mph.

I've personally taken my WRX to the edge of the speedometer (140+ mph) on Rt. 1 in Jim's neighborhood...

That's amazing. Is the 171 mph spoken of just a calculation? I assume it is...
