    Like I said, I think that most tranny failures are operator dependent. The way you shifted during your 1/4 mile passes (and during regular driving) can contribute to tranny failure. Although I can understand why Jim's tranny failed now, as he had an upgraded clutch... that's just asking to shock the driveline more...

    There are far too many people with ultra high miles and good 1/4 times with the stock tranny. The amount of people with WRX tranny failures is actually quite small... they're just well documented on the boards.

    Jim, I'd love to go down to the track with you sometime. I would have been down there already if school didn't keep me so damn busy...

    I didn't even bother to go back to the dealership when I broke my tranny. It was my fault. Honestly, I don't think the tranny ever would've failed if it weren't for the upgraded clutch (which was insanely grippy). I agree that their are some occasional bad trannies from the factory, but most failures are due to abuse.
