    M3 -1 Evo -0

My brother just got home, the first thing he tells me about is his first major kill in his E46 M3 that he just got a few weeks ago. I thought you guys would like to hear it.

He was crusin on the highway goin about 60 on his way home. Then a yellow Evo with a couple of teenagers pulls up next to him, look over and gun it, then slow down someways ahead.
My bro decided it was time to put his 333hp to the test. He got next to the Evo, they both looked at eachother, then he waited for the other guy to make the first move. Then they were off. He said he walked the Evo pretty bad up to 110ish. When they came up to traffic. Didn't tell me about how many cars, because he didn't look back, but he said he started pulling from the start, and just kept on pulling.

I wish I'd been riding with him, then I could give a better description of the race.

Sounds about right to me 333hp/na/rwd/6sp vs. 271hp/turbo/awd/5sp. At least on a highway roll. From a stop it'd be a damn good race.

That's a very incomplete question.... take it in what? IN falling off a cliff maybe? In damage to the wallet sure.

0-60 yes in the 1/4 yes, in an autocross who knows, in a slalom I haven't a clue... and from a roll at highway speeds it's anybody's game as the m3 will be putting more to the wheels but pulling more mass so it would be interesting.

Really? I was thinking that published 0-60 and quarter times for the E46 M3 and the USDM STi were roughly the same, making it a drivers race. Road and Track has a 4.7 0-60 and 13.3 in the quarter for a 2001. What an awesome car!

From a roll, an M3 will rape both an Evo VIII and an STi. From a stop, its a driver's race to 100mph.

I couldn't agree with you more.

Is the EVO a 5 spd MT, or is that a typo in the original post?

I'm almost positive that all US Evos are 5 speed.

I see...this whole time I thought they were 6 spd. I'll have to change that in the EVO spec section of my brain
