    My mother had a 67 Coronet R/T 440 Magnum that was rated at 13.5 @ 106 (on bias ply tires) in the old magazines. That's quite a strong top end for a stock car. The 440 is an extremely capable engine.

    Well built current examples have no trouble turning low 7s or quicker in 1/8th, as long as they have some sort of traction. Reasonably wide drag radials may be all he needs to run some serious times.
