A guy and a girl from the Subaru club dropped by my house unexpected last night around 8pm. We went outside and there was a new black STI parked outside. She just picked up her new STI yesterday morning and went for a nice drive. I thought it funny how different people give different ideas on how things should be broken in. I noticed she was driving to 6.5K rpm anyways so I asked if she would honor me and do some runs. She accepted so we went back to my place and picked up my car.
We did 20, 40, and 60 mph rolls up to 100+\-. I have a Stage 2 not tunned optimally however it's a new STI. The STI is very power and alot of torque. This biggest difference I saw was that everytime the STI switched into the next gear it would pull ... HARD. I thought it was so nice. Under 70mph we were pretty close however once we started to reach the 70-100 mph range the STI would start pulling ... not extreme but you can tell. The guy switched between both cars to take video and a extra 200lbs+ handicapp for whomever was carrying the video man. I know that the STI w/ boost and exhaust mod will kill me and 90% of the car on the road ... humm 300+ whp AWD.
The best story of the night was were just finished out runs on the hwy and was coming back onto the hwy from the exit. We merge onto a 3 lane hwy and me taking the lead and STI right behind me. Right behind I get onto the hwy a "rice" Eclipse w/ A pillar gauges and N1 style exhaust passes me in the middle lane. We're on the cell phone so I tell the STI driver to pull into the left lane while I stay in the right lane. So both Subaru's start to catch up to then Eclipse. I don't think the Eclipse driver knew what we were planning so the STI and me pull up along side of it doing 65 in a 65 mph. We sat beside him for 5-10 seconds. I do my greeting by reving my Tanabe and the video man counts 1 ... 2 ... and on 3 both of us pull away from him like there was not tomorrow till 100+\-. It was true sceen from the Fast and Furious. I had a great time chilling w/ a STI and people who enjoy the same hobbies.
