    WRX vs EVO

Ok.... So I'm leaving Wendy's... I pull out onto route 1 (3 lane highway with traffic lights) and as I'm pulling on the road a yellow EVO ends up right on my back bumper. We were in the right lane, and he suddenly slices across the the left lane (apparently he knew about the construction that was on the other side of the mammoth excursion sitting in front of me). I slowly make my way over to the left and get out of a patch of traffic and there's the EVO.... almost stopped in the road waiting for me. Istart pulling up, and he guns it, so I do the same. And he just starts pulling away. I was like "Damn that's fast." I was trying to keep up but he just keeps pulling. At some point he brakes cuz i'm 10+ carlengths away and it's not fun anymore. I come back up to him. As I do so I look down and see the little green on the AC is on... Doh! I turn the AC off, and we go again. This time, it was much much closer. He still pulled from me, but rather slowly. As we approach a little hill in the road my RD starts going crazy, so i slide in behind the evo, flash my lights like mad. He got the point cuz we both laid on the brakes and slowed to 60 right before we get over the hill.... and there are 2 cops sitting on the side of the road waiting for speeders. As I go by I give the thumbs up, and so does he.

Really fun drive and damn are those EVO's fast. Looks like I need a new snail

I applaud you for your story and your concern for your fellow enthusiast. Some might have just laid on the brakes and watched the other man get pulled over for a chat. Good to hear you hung with him also. How fast were you going when you got the alert and what detector are you running?

Hey, it's not a big deal. I'm just your average superhero!

Seriously though, why would I want him to get pulled over? Obviously a fellow enthusiast out for a drive on a nice day We gotta stick together!

I got the alert going way too fast (~100, maybe a bit slower). I have an Escort Passport 8500. It's an expensive one, but as you can tell, it works. This is not the first time it has saved me from getting a huge ticket.

Nice going midknight, oh by the way, I don't drive with my A/C on (better fuel econ.) But summer is fast approaching, let's hope I won't die of a heat stoke.

Our AC is sneaky, its almost like its trying to hinder us or something. Anyways, good story and good death! I saw my first Evo around my area this weekend, I can't wait til one lines up against me

MadMax, looking at your mods, I think you'll do a little better than I did against an EVO. I really need a turbo upgrade!

Good job not letting him get the ticket either... I try to do the same if I see a cop (don't have a detector). Around here though, they like using 'slick top' cars and just hide in the patches of other cars.

I had the favor returned while racing a E46 M3 not long ago. We were going 100+ around a sweeper, and I was following his line, and he hit brakes and stuck his arm out the window doing the "slow down" motion. He apparantly caught a glimps of a CHP cruising in front of us amongst some other cars. Nice guy.

I thought i read somewhere that the rex will turn off the compressor at WOT, guess i was wrong. I drive without as well, in TX we have already had a handfull of 90-95 deg. days, you cant have the AC on when you drive a miata so i am used to it.

Good job on the po-po warning to a fellow car nut.

Im not sure how you lost by that much....Was he stock...I raced one w/my stage 2 setup and pulled him by two or three cars easily...I wouldve pulled him more if I didnt slow down...Granted they are fast and stock vs stock they walk on us, but w/mods its a diff story....
